Red Mile Race Reviews

Friday, October 4th

Track Handicapper – Gabe Prewitt

Race 1                     Selections                                2-5-4

1

Truxton

($60k Lex yearling) Ended up having to cut his own mile last time after #4 was essentially a runaway on the lead.  Wedged through traffic late to get up for the win.  Big shot again here in short field.

2

Samburu

I could be wrong, but I believe he was going to blow right on by #4 at the top of the lane last week before making a break in stride.  I’m willing to jump on board here at what should be a square price.

3

Ehrnrooth

No threat last week, didn’t cut into that lead by any significant margin.  I’ll pass.

4

Starsabove allerage

($11k HB yearling) Absolute runaway on the lead here last week, only to tire just a bit down the lane.  JJ will have to find a way to ration out the speed.  Must respect.

5

Another Depostion

($47k Lex yearling) HUGE improvement here last week, and could have ended up with a BIG piece of it if he hadn’t encountered traffic trouble down the lane.  Any similar effort should put him right there.

Race 2                     Selections                                4-1-2

1

Sarandon Blue Chip

Put together a solid 3yo campaign last season, but has yet to take that next step forward this year.  Lands in a fairly wide open crew here, her best effort should put her squarely in the mix.

2

Revival Rock

Almost a longshot winner here last week, coming up only a neck short after encountering tons of traffic trouble down the lane at 27-1.  Unfortunately won’t be anywhere near that price here, but a similar effort puts her close.

3

Douknow whereurgoin

Dug in gamely down the lane to fend off the hard charging stablemates, #’s 2 & 6, here last week.  Nice effort there, and looks to have a big shot once again in what appears to be a fairly wide open crew.

4

Ideal Ginny

No chance against top level stakes fillies here last week, but lands in what should be a much more manageable spot here.  I would expect her to wake up a bit with the drop in class.

5

The Bomb Dottie

Dottie couldn’t hang with the top fillies last week, and it doesn’t look like things are going to get any easier in here.  Pass.  D. Miller opted to #6 instead.

6

Wind River Cat

Ended up with a perfect journey here last week in behind #3, only to come up a neck short up the inside late.  Not a bad effort, but hooks an even tougher group here.  Will have to step things up a bit.  DM opted here over #5.

7

My Sweet Mandy

No threat against many of these same rivals last week, tough spot this afternoon.  Pass.

Race 3                     Selections                                4-5-6

1

Sorrento Hall

KYSS Champ got to chase down a wicked early pace here last week to finish up a nice 2nd, but steps up to the big leagues to take on some tough colts here.  Would have to pick things up even more.

2

Master Kemp

($50k Lex yearling) Perfect trip in behind #4 here last week, but couldn’t hang with him down the lane.  Would have to pick things up quite a bit still to contend for any of the major awards.

3

Shift Into Glide

($250k HB yearling – highest YG sold at auction in ’12) Still winless, but has only missed the board one time in 7 career starts.  Had plenty of clearance down the lane last week, had to settle for 3rd.  Tough spot.

4

Odds on Amethyst

If he is anywhere near as good this afternoon as he was last week, I don’t think they can possibly beat him.  Seemed to relax on the lead, absolutely sprinted away from his rivals under little encouragement down the lane.

5

Dony Andreas

($44k HB yearling) Ended up with the unfortunate assignment of challenging Father Patrick with a first over move here last week, and expectedly tired a bit late to finish 4th.  Lands in what may be a softer div here.

6

Muscle Network

Seemed to struggle just a touch on the turns here last week, but really kicked into gear on the straightaways, unleashing a late brush to finish 2nd behind #4.  Any similar effort should put him close once again.

7

Monkey Man

($13k HB yearling) Has been solid against mid-level PA company, but lands in a tough crew here.  Pass.

Race 4                     Selections                                4-3-2-7                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Gangio

($13k HB yearling) I must admit I wasn’t overly impressed when we saw him in Kindergarten action locally, and he appears to have hooked a tough crew here this afternoon.  Can’t endorse him against these.

2

Auspicious Hanover

($50k HB yearling) Trotted evenly against a similar crew here last week, and any similar effort should put him in the mix once again.  Appears to be fairly wide open in here behind the fav.

3

Il Sogno Dream

($40k Lex yearling) Has held his own against some tough company thus far in his brief career, picking up the nickel last time out in the $354k Wellwood at Mohawk.  I’ll try him in behind the fav.  Pierce opted to #4.

4

Outburst

($33k Lex yearling) Speaking of an outburst, this guy had quite the outburst here last week to become the fastest 2yo colt or gelding of all time.  Lands in what appears to be a weaker div here.  Short price looming.

5

It Really Matters

($6.5k HB yearling) Parlayed a perfect trip into a nice 2nd place finish here in LC action last week, now takes a step up to the big leagues this afternoon.  Fairly wide open behind the fav.  Maybe.  Pierce opted to #4.

6

Another Transcript

($20k Lex yearling) Banked over $50k already this season on the ultra tough PASS circuit, and lands in a div that appears to be a crapshoot behind the fav.  His best effort would put him in play.  YG opted to #1 instead.

7

Muscle Midas

($300k Lex yearling) Landed in what was likely the toughest div last week, but now gets rewarded with a bit softer crew today.  Still going to need his absolute very best punch.

8

Damfoolr millionair

($33k HB yearling) Trotted evenly in the World Record mile last time to finish 4th, and that is about the best I could see him doing once again after landing on the outside this afternoon.  Your call.

Race 5                     Selections                                3-4-7-6                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

The Beach Nextdoor

Held her own against overnight company in PA, but lands in quite the shark tank for her local debut.  Not ready for these just yet.  Pass.  D. Miller opted to #7 instead.

2

Barefoot Beauty

Came up short last week after a nice trip, and I’m not sure things are going to get any easier for her in here.  I could consider her for the minor awards only.

3

Beach Gal

($85k HB yearling) I was very impressed with her effort last time, dug in for a close 3rd down the lane after being used hard to make the top.  Any similar effort should be enough against this crew.

4

Allstar Rating

($25k Lex yearling) Big effort here last week, she was used very hard to make the lead before getting shuffled back badly only to re-rally down the lane for 2nd.  Should continue to improve in only 4th LT start.

5

Ravinia Hanover

($75k HB yearling) Has held her own against tough company this season, but I will point out that she was soundly defeated by #4 in that last start at Hoosier.  I could consider her for the minor awards only.

6

Beach Body

($110k HB yearling) Encountered a bit of traffic trouble down the lane here last week, before finally shaking loose along the pylons.  I would expect her to be much closer with a smoother journey.

7

Fits Well

Shuffled back badly here last week, but did have quite a bit of pace when she finally found room in the stretch drive.  Should be much better positioned tonight in short field.  I’ll toss her on the ticket.  DM chose over #1.

Race 6                     Selections                                3-4-7                       Start of the $10,000 Guaranteed Pick 4                See Ticket at the end

1

Somethin incredible

No threat against stakes company here last week, and I don’t see things getting much easier here.  Pass.

2

Rosie De Vie

($60k Lex yearling) Decent effort here last week after a nice trip, but would likely still need to pick things up a bit to make any noise against these.  Callahan opted to #3, I’ll do the same.

3

Anegada

($25k HB yearling) Found herself in poor position at the head of the lane here last week, but sprinted home nicely to finish up right in behind her rivals.  Should end up with a better journey here in short field.

4

Instant Respect

($90k Lex yearling) Ended up with a perfect journey following up the eventual winner here last week, but had to settle for an even 5th.  Lands in what appears to be a much softer div today.  Must respect.

5

My Lady Day

($75k Lex yearling) Ended up getting caught wide the entire mile here last week, but keep in mind she did track live cover throughout from the eventual winner.  Not as good visually as it looks on paper.  Adds lasix tonight.

6

A La Notte Hanover

($30k HB yearling) Competitive on the ultra tough NYSS circuit this season, and now stretches out to the mile oval for the first time.  Lands in a fairly wide open crew.  It wouldn’t shock me.

7

Take That Hanover

($58k HB yearling) Used extremely hard here in big mile last week, and expectedly tired a bit late.  I would seriously doubt she will be scorched like that in shorter field, I would expect a big bounce back today.

Race 7                     Selections                                9-11-1-7                  50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Revrac Harbour

Simply coasted around the track to crush his rivals here last time, but will have to step things up even more here in big bulky field this afternoon.  Should continue to improve with each try.

2

Triumph

Trotted evenly after launching a first over bid from the back of the pack here last week against the heavy fav, but it’s hard to see things getting any easier here in huge field.  Needs more.

3

Mandela Blue Chip

($80k HB yearling – highest Crazed sold at auction in ’12) Finished far back last week, and has yet to prove he packs enough speed to hang with these.  Retains longshot status today.

4

Sheer Flex

Decent career debut, but not sure he is ready for these yet.  Pass.

5

Elegante Attire

($34k HB yearling) Looked like he was going to finish in a dead tight photo with #7 for the win, before making a break here in deep stretch last week.  He has proven he has the ability if he can mind his manners.  JC opted to #9 instead.

6

Aqua Lung

($6k Lex yearling) Didn’t have anything any in the tank after a perfect 2nd over journey here last week, and would take a complete turnaround to hang with these.

7

Rocky De Vie

($30k Lex yearling) Saved ground throughout, and unleashed a big stretch rally to mow down his rivals in the lane.  Should be close once again if he minds his manners.  D. Miller opted here over #’s 10 & 11.

8

Opulent Yankee

($4k HB yearling) Took a big shot at #1 here last week, but ended up having to settle for 3rd after a picture perfect journey.  Not sure things will get any easier after landing on the outside here in big bulky field.

9

Lightning Force

($80k Lex yearling) Finished up 2nd against tough company in his last couple tries.  Behind the best 2yo in the country last week, and the fastest 2yo colt of all time the week prior.  That’s impressive!  Big drop today.

10

Moonlight Espoir

Hasn’t shown enough stamina to go with these, and gets slammed with outside post here in big field.  D. Miller opted to #7 instead.

11

Ragazzo Dolce

Made a speed break here in deep stretch last week, after he was closing a TON of ground against his rivals.  I am convinced there is some talent here if he can hold things together.  Price is right.  DM opted to #7.

12

Final Fantasy

($125k HB yearling – highest Dewey sold at auction in ’12) Not overly impressed with his career debut, and he would need to pick things up quite a bit still to hang with this crew.  Not yet.

Race 8                     Selections                                5-1-6

1

E L Titan

Anytime I see a 2nd place finish behind Father Patrick, you have gotten my attention.  Lightly raced colt finished behind him in stakes company 2 starts back.  Might provide some value from inside post this afternoon.

2

Hillustrious

($56k Lex yearling) Took a first over shot at the heavy fav and eventual winner here last week, only to tire a bit down the lane.  Lands in a fairly wide open crew here, but would still need to pick things up a bit.

3

Raise the Curtain

($8k HB yearling) Trotted evenly to be a decent 3rd behind Father Patrick here last week, and lands in what should be a much more manageable spot here.  Any similar effort puts him in the mix.

4

Toss Cartwright

($50k HB yearling) I suppose you could give him excuses for the last 2, making a break on the sloppy track in Chi-town stake and broken equipment here prior.  Still going to need his absolute best punch.

5

Speak the Truth

($65k HB yearling) Made a break here while taking a perfect trip behind the fav last week, but had been RAZOR sharp prior.  I’ll give him a try once more.

6

Muscles princtonian

Absolutely dominated here in local Q’fer, but we haven’t seen him in an actual race now in almost 3 months.  Not quite sure what to expect, but should provide some value.  Maybe.  Campbell opted here over #2.

7

Trixton

($360k Lex yearling – highest MH sold at auction in ’12) Ended up finishing up a solid 3rd here last week, and lands in what is likely a bit softer crew.  One of many with a shot in here.

Race 9                     Selections                                3-9-1-11                  50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

King City

($52k Lex yearling) Had a lot of pop after shaking loose down the lane here last week, finishing up a nice 2nd in behind #3.  Should be in line for another nice journey here after landing on the inside.

2

Enrichment

($9k Lex yearling) No match for similar rivals last week, and things aren’t going to get any easier here in big bulky field this afternoon.

3

Great Society

($50k Lex yearling) Coasted home to a very easy win here last week as the heavy fav, and appears to have landed in another fairly comfortable spot here.  No question the one to beat.

4

Victory Scene

($10k Lex yearling) Encountered lots of breaking problems recently, would take a complete turnaround to hang with these.

5

Leasem for Less

($5k Lex yearling) Yet to prove he packs enough speed to hang with these.  Pass.

6

Genious at Work

($80k HB yearling) Has been a couple of notches below similar company here recently, hard for me to endorse him against these.

7

Myolinist

($50k Lex yearling) Perfect trip in behind #3 here last week, and parlayed that into a close 3rd place finish.  I would assume JC will put him in play early once again.  Maybe.

8

Magic Glide

($12k Lex yearling) Reverted back to his bad habits here last time, appears to be overmatched against these.

9

So Not Cool

($3k HB yearling) Had some sneaky late trot here in his local debut, and if McNair can find a way to work him into the race I think he could make some noise in here at what should be a solid price.

10

Overgrown

($27k HB yearling) Has had some breaking problems recently, not sure he is ready for these.  Pass.

11

Dribbling

($35k Lex yearling) Continues to improve with each and every start, and I will hope he gets away nicely here from the 2nd tier although I’m not a big fan of that starting slot with trotters.  Needs his very best.

Race 10                   Selections                                7-4-2-3-6                 10 Cent Super Hi Five Wagering

1

Stucklike glue

($22k HB yearling) Hopefully you aren’t stuck heading into the finale here this afternoon, but if so I couldn’t recommend this filly to dry and dig you out.  Tough spot.  Gingras opted to #6 instead.

2

Lasting Appeal

Used HARD here last week, and still fought valiantly down the lane to end up a close 3rd.  Lands in an ultra tough div here, but any similar effort should put her in the mix.

3

Delightful Dragon

Raced very well in her local debut last week, closing a ton of ground to finish up 4th behind #4.  Should be in much better position here today in short field.  Maybe underneath.

4

Uffizi Hanover

($100k Lex yearling – highest WS filly sold at auction in ’12) I’m not easily impressed, but I’m still scratching my head over her effort last week.  When I say she unleashed a vicious late rally, I mean a WICKED late kick.  One of the most impressive performances of the meet.  Will she follow it up with another here?

5

Upfront Bad Girl

($75k HB yearling) Ended up with plenty of clearance down the lane last week, but had to settle for a 7th place finish after being shuffled back at the top of the lane.  Would have to pick things up quite a bit.  DM opted to #4.

6

I Need Hotstuff

($107k HB yearling) Used very hard last week, but still dug in for a decent 3rd place finish down the lane.  Ends up in quite the shark tank here though, I could only consider her for the minor awards.  YG chose here over #1.

7

Precocious Beauty

Sprinted by her rivals under very little encouragement here last week, and has stamped herself as the top 2yo filly in the country over the last couple of months.  It won’t be easy here, but she is the one to beat.

8

Magnifique

($4k Lex yearling) Bargain yearling has put together a decent 2yo campaign, but unfortunately lands on the outside of a stacked up crew for her local stakes debut.  Can’t endorse her against these.
