Red Mile Race Reviews

Saturday, August 24th

Track Handicapper – Gabe Prewitt

Race 1                     Selections                                4-7-3

1

Voodoo Victor

Lost all chance with the break far behind the gate in the opening leg, and still appears to be a notch or two below the top colts in here.  I’ll wait for a better spot.

2

Glamrocker

Added hobbles in his local debut, and packed it in badly after flashing some early speed as a big longshot.  Retains longshot status here.  Not for me.

3

Caveat Emptor

No match for #4 last time, but still a solid rally to finish in behind in 3rd.  Looks to be a threat for the minor awards once again.

4

Lauderdale

Absolutely crushed as a heavy fav in the opening leg, and was on absolute cruise control down the lane for CC.  No question he is the one to beat.  Competed in the $1 million Hambo two starts back.

5

Dewey Luvs Britt

A nice even effort in his local debut, and now picks up the services of Lachance as well.  Anything similar to that effort puts him in play behind the fav.

6

Deweykidum nhowe

A solid local debut to finish behind #4, unleashing a 27.2 final quarter.  Certainly appears to be heading the right direction, but things aren’t going to get any easier tonight.

7

Touchdown As

Right when it appeared he was going to get away perfectly he made a break in stride last time.  Now the pressure is on, HAS to have a good finish to make $250k Final next week.  I can make a case.

8

Zoli

Raced better than it appears on paper, after battling the eventual winner from first over for a long way.  Tired a bit down the lane.  Any smoother journey could put him in the mix behind the fav.

Race 2                     Selections                                8-1-6

1

Dewycolorin theline

Parlayed a perfect trip into a nice 2nd place finish in his local debut.  Lands on the pole here in what appears to be the weaker of 2 divs.  No question he will be blasting out early.  Catch him if you can.

2

Penn

KY Fair Champ ended up making a break in the opening leg, but should be in line for a perfect journey tonight in behind #1.  Will he have enough stamina to hang around late?  Not sure.

3

Sharpshot Hall

Appears to be overmatched once again.  Pass.

4

Bas Hanover

Finally put in a clean mile last time, but still finished far behind his rivals.  Would still have to pick things up quite a bit.  I’ll pass.

5

Tornado

Closed from far back to pick up the nickel last time in KYSS action, and now lands in a perfect mid-pack post in the weaker of 2 divs.  Possibly a shot at the minor awards.

6

Banco Solo

Took a brutal shuffle around the far turn last week, and did appear to have some trot when he finally shook loose.  Any smoother journey should put him in play.  Lachance opted to #8 instead.

7

Swiss Alps

Connections skipped the opening leg, but now decide to give him a try in stakes action after pulling off the big upset in overnight company last week.  Not sure he is ready to go with these just yet.

8

Here’s Johnny

Rallied from Nowheresville to finish up a solid 2nd behind the runaway fav in the opening leg.  Dodges that rival tonight, should be flying late once again.  Maybe.  Lachance opted here over #6.

9

Mystical Dew

Defending KYSS Champ was extremely impressive in his ’13 debut last time from post 10 against a solid crew.  Should continue to improve in 2nd start back tonight.  Lands on the outside once again though.

Race 3                     Selections                                4-2-8

1

Presidential Sam

Invader likes to save ground and finish up close, and should be able to do just that tonight after landing on the pole.  Your call.

2

Lucky Flier

Has been knocking heads with some tough rivals in PA overnights recently, and should find this spot much more to his liking.  Anything similar to those recent efforts put him squarely in the mix.

3

Ombre Art

Couldn’t keep up with his rivals in tough spot last week, and lands in against another solid crew here in Open company tonight.  Would have to pick things up a bit.  Jerrell opted here over #6.

4

Jagger Blue Chip

8yo veteran now with over $300k in the bank, and he just keeps on winning and winning.  Makes his way back up to the Open level tonight, but there is no question his best effort makes him the one to beat.

5

Sgt Grit

The Sarge lands in locally against Open company after competing in the conditioned claiming ranks recently at Scioto.  Has been fairly sharp, should get a nice cover trip from mid-pack post.  Maybe.

6

Stone Appeal

I liked him a lot last time, and he was able to get the job done as the 11-1 upsetter!  Even after that, I think this may be a bit ambitious for him.  Don’t find much appealing about him here.  Jerrell opted to #3 instead.

7

The Comedian

Turned that last field into a joke after blasting right off the wings and never looking back.  Up in class tonight and lands in post 8, I would suspect he will revert back to off the pace tactics.  Picks up CC.

8

Trev Adams Attack

Absolutely launched from post 10 last time, and dug in well down the lane to hold 3rd.  Unfortunately he lands on the far outside again tonight, and in an even tougher group.  Can’t endorse him against this crew.

Race 4                     Selections                                5-9-8-1                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Phenomenon

Did everything he could possibly do to win that last start, going down the road and setting moderately soft fractions, but couldn’t hold off #8 late.  Lands in an even tougher group here against some solid rivals.

2

Exit Cam

Solid effort in his local debut to finish 3rd after challenging #1 first over at the head of the lane.  Should sit close once again from the inside post.  Maybe a shot at the minor awards.

3

Argon Fire

Finished far back last time, and things aren’t going to get any easier tonight.  I’ll wait for a better spot.

4

A List

Sat right behind #1 throughout last time, and hung in the entire way down the lane into the 54.1 backhalf.  He certainly proved that he can hold his own with this level.  Will need his very best once again.

5

Duel in the Sun

I thought that was a deceptively good start last time, as CC didn’t pull the trigger until very late and he was charging at #9 in deep stretch.  Lands in a perfect mid-pack post and the price should be right on the defending Champ.

6

Jude Hall

Appears overmatched.  Pass.

7

Galex

Ended up a decent 3rd behind #’s 5 & 9 last time, but lands in against several more solid foes tonight with the move to only 1 div.  Not sure I like his chances with that in mind.  Lachance opted to #1 instead.

8

Blatantly Best

Unleashed a wicked 26 flat final kicker last time to mow down his rivals in deep stretch.  Hooks an even better group tonight, but his best effort puts him right in the mix.  Trying to make it 3 in a row.

9

Bandolito

Speaking of win streaks, it’s now 7 in a row for this ultra talented son of Ponder.  Won in hand last week, and should be the one to reel in again here.  No question he will be leaving, but a short price looming.

10

Nutmegs Maya

Well beaten by a few of these rivals last time, and now lands on the far outside in full field.  Not for me.

Race 5                     Selections                                7-2-3

1

Rome

No threat after riding the rail last week, and not sure I can endorse him against this crew.  No question a bit of an easier spot tonight, but would still have to pick things up quite a bit.  Lachance chose over #’s 3, 7, & 8.

2

Master Host

He will be happy not to see Chinese Cuisine back here this week, after he has finished behind him in the last couple of starts.  With that rival out of the way, it certainly gives this guy a big shot.

3

His Dream Girl

Filly has been even against overnight company in PA, and lands in locally against Open company.  This Open didn’t come up overly tough, but she will still need her very best.  Lachance opted to #1 instead.

4

Sister Gola

Warning: I have been on her for 2 straight weeks, and she has raced poorly both times.  I’m hopping off tonight, and typically that alone will WAKE them up.  Your call.

5

Gambler’s Vacation

No match for the heavy fav last time, and it won’t be any vacation against this crew even with that rival out of the way.  Would still need to pick things up.

6

Imperial Spur

Couldn’t believe he got off 3-1 in that spot last week, where it looked as if he had the field over a barrel.  Can’t say the same about his spot tonight though.  Hard for me to endorse him in here.

7

Paris Pike

Continuing to improve with each start back, and has a ton of early speed to find good position.  Might be able to parlay a perfect trip in here into an upset victory.  I’ll take a chance.

8

Ginger Tree Wanda

Wanda has been ‘ok’ recently against overnight company on the east coast, but I must say the local Q’fer wasn’t anything to write home about.  Not sure I’m willing to jump on board at a short price.  Lachance opted to #1.

Race 6                     Selections                                8-4-10                     Pick 4 Begins Here                  See Ticket at the End

1

Pleasant Rio

Raced a touch better last time, and now lands on the pole here in an absolutely WIDE open crew.  Should sit much closer to the action, but still going to have to prove he has the stamina to hang around late.

2

Miss Little

Continues to improve with each start back on the season, but still appears to be a notch or two below the top ones in here at this point.  I’ll watch one more first.

3

Idbegood atthat

Not sure what I’d be good at, but picking horses isn’t one of them.  This guy got his bell rung in his only local try, but takes a drop down tonight and picks up Bolon.  That might wake him up a bit.

4

Rock of Luck

Had absolutely no luck against top rivals in those last couple, and finally lands in what should be a MUCH  more manageable spot here.  Primed and poised tonight for a drop and pop?  Maybe.

5

Feys Blitzen Grey

Grey gelding hasn’t really fired back to his old self in first two local tries, but is another that takes a drop down tonight.  He will pop in with a monster effort when you least expect it.  Will it be tonight?  Wish I knew.

6

Big Harry Deal

OH invader hasn’t had a ton of luck yet this season, I’ll watch him tour the oval locally before jumping on board.

7

Baby Blue Pajamas

Began her local campaign with a win 3 starts back, but hasn’t had much to offer since being up in class since.  Hard for me to see things changing in here.  Pass for now.

8

Mobil Big John

Solid effort to finish up 2nd last time, and I could see him improving a bit more here in his 2nd local start.  Likely blasting out from way out here.  I’m willing to take a shot.

9

Looking for Love

I’m not sure what she is looking for, but I don’t think she is going to fall in love with this field.  Looks like a tough spot.  Not for me.

10

Springhouse Rebel

Solid effort to finish up a close 2nd on the sloppy track here last week.  Lands on the far outside tonight, but no question his best punch could put him in play and the price should be right as well.

Race 7                     Selections                                1-3-7-2                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Native Dream

If your friends ever tell you there is no such thing as a ‘sure thing’ in horse racing, save the program and show them this race.  This filly should win from here to Versailles Road.  Never missed the board all season taking on tough stakes company on the east coast while banking over $125k.  Put a circle around her.

2

Through My Eyes

Solid in both local starts this season, but stepping up to the top level tonight.  Not sure she is ready for the fav just yet, but one of many with a shot at the minor awards.

3

Bohemian Spell

PA invader has banked over $40k this year taking on some tough foes in overnight company at The Meadows.  No question her best effort puts her squarely in the mix tonight.  ICE COLD 1-3!

4

Feds Express

Shows some decent lines up at Pocono, but they are going to have to prove to me that a $5k claimer can go with these mares.  I’ll watch one first.

5

Hereiam Coolwater

A couple of solid efforts locally, but taking on an even better group tonight headlined by #1.  I would expect another off the pace rally here to maybe find her way on the ticket once again.

6

Sea Bug

Has hit the board in 19 of 31 this season, including both of her local starts where she has hit the line very close with #5 each time. It won’t be easy, but she is one of many with a shot behind the fav.

7

Nocturnal Rose

Tried to go down the road last time only to tire late as the fav.  Not sure she does her best work on the lead, and I would expect her to revert back to the off the pace tactics here.  Price is much better as well.

8

Annrenee

Chi-town invader is coming off a solid 2nd in conditioned claiming company last time at Maywood, but lands in a tough spot for this level locally.  Not sure I like her chances here.

9

Hillbilly Desire

Pulled off the 7-1 upset at this level last week, but now lands on the outside of an even better group.  Has a big late kick, but likely coming from way back tonight.  Your call.

10

Twin B Passion

Raced evenly at this level last week, but now lands on the far outside of competitive group.  I’ll wait for a better spot.

Race 8                     Selections                                9-8-2

1

Leadmeto thetruth

Tired badly after getting caught up in the quick fractions last week, and lands on the pole tonight where he should sit close once again.  Will have to find a bit more stamina to hang in late.

2

Glad to be Here

Solid 2nd place finish from outside post last time, and now lands on the inside of his main rivals.  Anything similar to that last effort should put him in the mix once again.

3

Mor Than Enuf Russ

Set up perfectly last time after he got to sit in the back and chase down the leaders off of demanding fractions.  Not sure things will set up that nicely here.

4

Clooney

Hasn’t had any stamina recently.  Would take a complete turnaround.  Retains longshot status.

5

Already Spent

No match for conditioned company in the last couple, and I’m not sure things are going to get any easier here.  I’ll pass for now.

6

Blue Collar Raider

Drops down after being soundly defeated in his local debut off the brief layoff.  Should improve a bit tonight, and has put together a solid resume this season in OH.  Maybe.

7

Lady Cambest

Was on a front end speed mission last time only to tire late and fade badly down the lane.  I’m sure they will revert back to off the pace tactics here.  Still would need her absolute very best.

8

T Russell Lou

Took a first over shot at an unbeatable Jagger last time, only to tire down the lane.  Drops down a level tonight in his 2nd start over the track.  I could make a case here.

9

Highland Hellion

Absolutely brutal trip last time parked out a long way and 3-wide for a piece as well.  Lands back in outside post, but we will likely see a much better price.  I think his best effort could be enough to get the job done.

10

Real Party

Not sure she is going to crash this party from way out here.  Pass.

Race 9                     Selections                                1-8-5-10                  50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

I Be Da One

Continues to improve with each and every start, and now takes a drop into the conditioned claiming ranks and lands on the pole.  Should be poised for a big effort, I’m willing to hop on board.

2

Honeybadger

OH invader takes a drop into the conditioned claiming ranks as well, and she should pick up with the stretch out to the mile oval.  Not an overly tough crew here.  Maybe.

3

Tonic Seelster

Didn’t have much luck at this level in her career debut, and would really have to pick things up to contend for any of the major awards tonight.  I’ll wait until we see some improvement.

4

Neddy Number Two

Neddy hasn’t finished within shouting distance of her rivals recently.  The longest of long shots.

5

Tambrielle

Solid effort after a tough trip in her first try at this level last week, and lands in a perfect mid-pack post once again.  Her best effort should put her in the mix once again.

6

Awesome Feather

Debuted for new barn last time, and ended up tiring badly on the end after an aggressive move to the top.  Takes a drop down into conditioned claimers here.  Should like the drop.

7

B Good Lexi

0 for 29 in her career, and still appears to be a notch or two below the top ones in here.   Pass.

8

Don’t Goa Way

I liked her a lot last time, and I believe she was going to be the winner before getting a bit rough gaited in deep stretch.  2nd start back off the layoff tonight, should continue to improve.

9

Justlikedins

Drops down a level into the nw1 to be claimed tonight, but lands on the outside.  Yet to hit the board in 12 tries this season, would have to pick things up a bit.  Fox opted here over #10.

10

Ivy’s American

Drops back into the conditioned claiming ranks tonight where she had some success in a 2nd place finish 3 starts back.  0 for 26, but does have several underneath finishes.  Your call.  Fox opted to #9 instead.

Race 10                   Selections                                7-1-5

1

Rockin With Dewey

Lands in the easier of 2 divs tonight after a solid 2nd place rally in her local debut.  Should be able to blast out and sit close from the pole.  Anything similar makes her the one to beat.

2

Fanfan Dream

Wasn’t overly impressed with her first local try, would have to find a lot more speed to hang with the top ones in here.  I’m not a fan.

3

Caneel Hall

Held off #’s 4, 5, & 6 late last week to finish up a distant 3rd behind a couple of tough rivals.  Likely to be blasting early once again, and might end up with another perfect trip behind the fav.  Maybe.

4

Alston Hall

Trotted evenly last time, but would still need to pick things up a bit to contend for the major awards.  I’ll wait until we see further improvement.

5

Déjà vu Too

Didn’t really fire her best effort last time in a fairly dull 4th place finish, but lands in what appears to be a softer spot tonight.  Should be flying late.

6

Redur beautiful

Rode the rail but well beaten in her stakes debut, and still not sure she is ready to go with the top ones in here.  I’ll pass for now.

7

Little Bitty Lies

Impressive in the opening leg against a solid crew, finishing just behind #1.  Likely to be leaving for good early position once again.  I’m willing to take a shot.

8

Kijafa

Not sure what happened last time as she was never in it at anytime.  She IS a better filly than that, but it’s hard to jump back on the bandwagon after seeing that.  Not sure.

Race 11                   Selections                                4-1-7

1

Flight Elal

Hoosier invader has been holding his own against some top level company up there recently, and lands on the pole tonight in our top level.  Should sit very close, lots to like.

2

Bazinga

Solid in the conditioned claiming ranks recently at Scioto, but lands in a fairly tough spot for his local debut.  Would need his absolute very best.

3

Doc’s Zippy

Used extremely hard to make the lead last time, only to tire a bit down the lane in a solid 2nd place finish behind #7.  Still a nice effort, but lands in an even tougher spot tonight.  Needs even more.

4

St Lads Zoom Zoom

Shows going some BIG miles on the half mile oval at Harrington, and a mark of 50.2 from earlier this year at Pocono.  Obviously has some issues, but I’m not sure they can beat him if he’s anywhere near his best.

5

Blue Creek Abner

Parlayed a perfect trip into a nice 2nd place finish last time, but lands in much deeper water tonight against even better foes.  Can’t endorse him against these.

6

Madoff

Drew clear to an easy win in his local debut as a heavy fav, but faces a much tougher task tonight against top level foes.  Likely to revert back to the off the pace tactics here.  Your call.

7

Camgrandest

Hasn’t done a thing wrong since arriving back locally, but is staring at his toughest task to date tonight with the new faces in town.  No question he will be flying late once again.

Race 12                   Selections                                6-5-4-1                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Variety Girl

Shook loose late last week to finish up 2nd behind #6, but lands in against an even tougher group here.  Should sit close from the pole, but will need her absolute very best.  Lachance opted here over #2.

2

Lindy’s Showgirl

Made a break in her local debut, and asking a lot to hang with this crew in only her 5th career start.  I’ll wait for a better spot.  Lachance opted to #1 instead.

3

Simone Hall

Parlayed a perfect trip into a close 4th place finish in the opening leg, and lands in against maybe an even tougher group tonight.  Will have to pick things up even more to have a shot at the major awards.

4

Andie Sophia

Defending KYSS Champ didn’t fire with her best effort last week, after being covered up for the majority of the mile.  She IS better than that, and I am willing to toss her on the ticket against these.

5

True Day Dream

Coasted home to a fairly easy score here in the opening leg, and lands in against many of those same rivals once again.  Will have to have her very best to knock off #6 as well.  Maybe.

6

Ma Chere Hall

Absolutely crushed her rivals as a heavy fav here in her local debut, including a remarkable 27.1 final panel.  Anything resembling that effort makes her the one to beat.  Callahan opted here over #9.

7

Clementine Dream

Made a break from post 10 with her trainer in the bike in the opening leg.  She has flashed speed at times, but has yet to prove that she can mind her manners with the pressure on.   I’ll watch for improvement.

8

Delmot

No threat last time, and lands in the tougher of 2 divs now.  Appears overmatched.

9

Duolotta cheatin

Lands on the outside of a tough group, and will likely have to do it from FAR back.  Doesn’t appear to be on the same level as her stablemate, #6.  Not sure if I like how things set up for her here.  CC opted to #6 instead.

Race 13                   Selections                                7-10-5-9-3                               10 Cent Hi Five Wagering

1

Sammys Ponder

Picked off some tiring rivals last time to finish up a distant 3rd behind #’s 9 & 10.  Lands on the pole tonight in big bulky field, things aren’t going to get any easier for her.  Lachance opted here over #’s 3 & 5.

2

Best of the Best

No match for #7 last time, would be hard for me to see anything changing here.  Pass.

3

Breathtaking beauty

The absolute wild card in here.  Scratched sick in the opening leg in what was scheduled to be her 1st start back on the season.  Flashed some speed in limited appearances last year.  No clue what to do w/her, but it is worth noting that Lachance opted off for her stablemate, #1.

4

Doc’s Suzie

Appears overmatched once again.  Pass.

5

Diligent Prospect

Zipped to the lead down the backside last time only to tire late.  Not sure she does her best work on the lead, and will likely revert back to off the pace tactics here.  Maybe a shot at the minor awards once again.

6

Cam Cutie

Broke her maiden at Ocean Downs last time, and hit the first road to Lexington after.  Not sure she is ready for these just yet.  Pass.

7

So Nice

Has dominated her rivals in 2 local starts this season, and was under no encouragement whatsoever in that last start to draw away.  The target is on her back now, no question the one to beat.

8

Imnotason ofabeach

No match for #7 last time, and now lands on the outside in big bulky field.  Looks like a tough spot for her in only her 4th career try.  Not for me.

9

KZ Beach Girl

Absolutely perfect steer last time following #10 up, and roared by her rivals when called upon down the lane.  How aggressive will Page be tonight from post 9?  I would expect her to be flying late once again.

10

Ohmybelle

Defending KYSS Champ has the unlucky task of starting from way out here, and I think the only option is to blast early for some sort of position.  Will need her very best.

11

Olive Oyle

No match for stakes company last week, and can’t see things getting any better here.  Pass.
