Red Mile Race Reviews

Saturday, September 21st

Track Handicapper – Gabe Prewitt

Race 1                     Selections                                1-4-2

1

Ndana Favorite

Had a nice late kick in his debut for new connections last time, finishing up a solid 2nd behind the heavy fav.  Looks to have landed in a much softer spot here, any similar effort makes him the one to beat.

2

Our Little Pilgrim

Raced evenly at this level nearly all season locally, and should be sitting fairly close here after drawing inside in short field.  Must respect.

3

Blueridge Hall

Pops in locally tonight off what he is probably considering a long layoff at 7 days.  He made 6 starts in the 7 days prior.  Fairly remarkable, will likely save ground and look to shake loose late.

4

Georgian Jiffyjane

Don’t be too hard on her for that last mile, she took a brutal shuffle around the far turn after getting caught behind a horse that stopped.  Anything similar to prior efforts puts her in play.

5

Change Agent

Has been a touch better since removing lasix 2 starts back, but still maybe a notch or two below the top ones in here.  I’ll pass in this spot.

6

West Coast Arturo

Red Mile veteran just hasn’t been on top of her game here this season, and it would take a complete turnaround tonight.

Race 2                     Selections                                2-4-1

1

Stone Appeal

Hasn’t been on top of his game in the last couple of starts, but lands on the pole here in what appears to be a much more manageable spot.  Should sit very close.  Maybe.

2

Miss Little

Lachance jumped in the bike for the first time last week and really picked this mare up a ton.  Lands in a short field tonight, may be able to ration out the speed even more.  Anything similar makes her the one to beat.

3

Kiss and Saygoodby

Lightly raced over the last couple of seasons, and hasn’t been much of a threat when we have seen her.  Pass.

4

Springhouse Rebel

Never got involved from post 10 last time, but had been knocking on the door at some big prices in his prior efforts against similar company.  Should be flying late once again.  ICE COLD 2-4!

5

Hillcrest Domingo

Hasn’t had much luck against claiming company, and would really have to pick things up to make any noise against these.

6

Royal Stargazer

Finally landed in a spot that woke him up a bit last time, and was game in defeat.  Lands in against similar company here, his best effort puts him in play once again.

Race 3                     Selections                                6-4-3

1

Mor Storms Coming

Hasn’t had much late kick recently, and would have to pick things up quite a bit to contend for any major awards here.

2

Duke Towne

No luck at this level all season, can’t see anything changing here.  Pass.

3

Ohnoyoudidn’t

Raced a bit better in her first drop down to this level in her most recent start, and I could see her contending for the minor awards once again.

4

Request to Win

Hung in well last time to fight off #3 for 2nd after the tough first over move.  Anything similar to that effort should put her very close once again.

5

Clooney

Hasn’t been competitive against similar company locally all season.  Pass.

6

Feys Blitzen Grey

Grey gladiator gets another drop in class tonight in hopes to knock off his first local win of the year.  Has been facing far tougher company recently.  Tonight is the night, I’m on board!

Race 4                     Selections                                6-1-4-7                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Picture This

3yo has a ton of early speed, and should be sitting on or near the lead after landing on the pole.  Picked up a 5th place check in for $500k just 3 starts back against some of the top colts in the country.  I could picture it.

2

Rock With It

I suppose we can excuse that last start with what appears to be broken equipment, should continue to improve in only his 4th start back on the season.  Another that I could only use underneath the favs.

3

Dewey Luvs Britt

Picked up a very nice 3rd place check in the $250k KYSS Final in his last local appearance, and is one of many I could see contending for the minor awards once again.

4

Banco Solo

Trotted evenly against Open company here last time, and appears to be a notch or two below the favs once again.  Yet another I could only consider for minor awards.  Lachance opted to #6 instead.

5

Rome

Shows winning the Open here prior, but takes on what appears to be a much more stacked up field tonight in conditioned company.  Will need his absolute very best.  Lachance opted to #6, I’ll do the same.

6

Another Amaretto

A year older than many of his main rivals in here, and has been knocking heads with some tough overnight company recently on the east coast.  I think his best would be plenty enough to beat these.

7

Natural Forces

Solid 3rd place finish behind a couple of nice rivals here last week, and was impressive in the start prior as well.  Won’t be easy from way out here, but anything similar should put him close.

Race 5                     Selections                                5-6-7-1                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

B Good Lexi

Has really rounded the corner since the barn change 2 starts back, and appeared to pick up even more in that last start where she added lasix.  0 for 32 LT, hard to endorse for the win but I’ll toss her on ticket underneath.

2

Littleworth Shake

Pass.

3

Endeavors Moment

On the improve recently since changing barns 2 starts back as well.  Couldn’t surge by #1 last time for 2nd, but still finished a game 3rd.  Anything similar puts her in the mix.

4

Jazmin Mykal

Never got involved in her first local start, and its hard for me to endorse her back in this spot.  Pass.

5

Tricksare myway

Indy invader is only 1 for 69 LT, but does have several underneath finishes.  Likely facing a bit softer company here than she has faced there recently.  I’m willing to take a flier here in her local debut.

6

I Be Da One

No luck at Hoosier last time, where she actually finished far behind #5 as the betting fav.  Had been sharp here prior though, winning 2 of her last 3.  Certainly fits with these.

7

Big Man Clyde

Facing the softest crew he has faced locally in my opinion, and I think his best effort should be enough to get the job done here.  I’m on board.

Race 6                     Selections                                10-8-6                     Pick 4 Starts Here                  See Ticket at the End

1

Victoria Valley

Stamina has been a major issue recently, would take a complete turnaround here.  Pass.

2

Wild Wind

9yo has some back class with 31 wins in 133 starts, including 5 wins this season.  Hasn’t been on top of his game recently, but may wake up a bit with the stretch out to the mile oval.  Your call.

3

Quiet Giant

Lone 2yo has his work cut out going up against this crew.  He would have to be a giant and then some….

4

Gliding Boheme

Tired down the lane after launching a first over attack in her last try, and it doesn’t appear that things are going to get any easier here.  Pass.

5

Held in Balance

3yo in the midst of a solid campaign, hitting the board in 9 of 11 starts.  Facing likely his toughest task of the season here though, would have to pick things up quite a bit.

6

Custom Tag

Tired after blazing through some quick fractions the last time we saw him, and I would assume we could expect him to revert back to an off the pace rally here.  Might be enough to land in behind the fav.

7

Muscledup Mouse

Can’t see the mouse getting any part of the cheese tonight.  Pass.

8

Penn

Has a TON of early speed, and I would assume he will be blasting out once again here.  We will see if he can carry it long enough to hang around for a piece late.

9

MJ’s Be There

Has been ‘ok’ in 2 local starts, but is likely going to have to do it from last here.  Not sure I can endorse him with that in mind.

10

Good Intentions

Super local Q’fer for a filly that comes in to tonight after a month break.  No question she will be floating out for some sort of early position.  Clearly the best if she minds her manners.  Lachance opted here over #6.

Race 7                     Selections                                3-4-6-5                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Through My Eyes

Has been a notch or 2 below the favs at this level all season, and appears to have hooked an even tougher group tonight.  Can’t endorse her in this spot.

2

Hereiam Coolwater

Appears overmatched against this crew.  Pass.

3

Authorize

Has held her own against some of the top fillies in the country this season, and lands in a VERY comfortable spot for her local debut.  I Authorize you to bet whatever you want on her.  Put a BIG circle around her.

4

Hippie Chic

Absolutely flying on the end of it last time in her local debut, and I could see her landing on the ticket in behind the fav once again.  Must respect.

5

Deo Gloria

Has had to endure some roughed up trips recently, and now lands in an extremely tough spot.  Your call.

6

Tailor’s Filly

Took a shot to go down the road here last time, only to get snapped in deep stretch.  Her very best effort should put her in play for the minor awards behind the fav.  Lachance opted to #3 instead.

7

Sea Bug

That last effort may not look terrible on paper, but I must admit that it didn’t look great visually.  Not quite sure she is heading in the right direction at this point.  Pass.  Lachance opted to #3 instead.

8

It’s Perfect

OH invader has found a not so perfect spot for her local debut.  Can’t endorse against these.  Pass.

Race 8                     Selections                                2-1-5

1

Smoke Rings

Decent effort last time in his local debut, and should be sitting much closer to the early pace tonight after landing on the pole.  Anything similar should put him in the mix.

2

Rock of Luck

Got caught up in the wicked early pace last time, and still nearly pulled off the 18-1 upset.  If he brings that same type of punch here, I don’t think he will need much luck to get the job done.  The one to beat.

3

Lady Cambest

Has raced evenly in claiming company here this season, and drops into a conditioned event for the first time in a while.  I would expect her to save ground and look to shake loose for a piece late.

4

Pleasant Rio

Finished far behind #2 in that mile last time, and still appears to be a notch or two below the top ones in here to me.  I’ll wait for a better spot.

5

Feel the Jolt

Mare has been on the improve since arriving locally, but I must point out that she is 1 for 50 the last couple of seasons.  Has enough early speed to ensure good position though.  Maybe underneath.

6

Rio Grande

Most of the MI invaders have been doing very well here, but this guy doesn’t appear to be in the best of form recently.  Would need his very best.

7

It’s Fun

Seemed to improve a bit last time out, but still a tough assignment from the outside against this crew.

Race 9                     Selections                                9-7-3-1                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Mobil Big John

RAZOR sharp here locally for our co-leading trainer recently, but steps up to face his toughest task to date tonight.  It won’t be easy against this crew, needs his very best.

2

Paul the Powerful

Appears to be overmatched against this crew.  Pass.

3

Camgrandest

Hasn’t had any luck knocking off #9 just yet, but appears to be in play for the minor awards once again.  Likely looking to shake loose late and kick home well.

4

Lily’s Hi Ho

Has been holding his own in the mid-level claiming ranks at Hoosier, but I’m just not convinced a $10k claimer is going to have much success in this spot.  He will have to prove it.

5

Fastlane Luke

Lone 3yo in the field has his work cut out against this crew, not sure I like the idea of him taking on some tough older rivals in this particular spot.

6

Real Hanover

Kicked into gear in deep stretch here last week to surge past his rivals for the victory.  Taking a step up into the major leagues here, not sure he is ready for these just yet.

7

J’s Six Pak Attack

Took his best shot at #9 last time, but couldn’t fight him off down the lane.  Still not a bad effort, and anything similar should put him in play for the minor awards once again.

8

Sgt Grit

The Sarge has been holding his own against some tough overnight rivals in Columbus, but would likely have to pick things up even more to hang with the top ones in here.  Not tonight.

9

Smarter Yet

Hard to knock this guy, who has simply dominated since arriving locally 2 starts back.  No question he faces a tough task after getting assigned the outside, but if he is anywhere close turning for home…  look out!

Race 10                   Selections                                7-6-8-1-4                 10 Cent Super Hi Five Wagering

1

Goodtimin Cam

Has raced well in both local starts, but faces what appears to be an even better crew here tonight.  Should be in line for a nice journey, I’ll try him underneath in the Super Hi 5.

2

Bluebird Musical

Hasn’t had any luck in for the claiming tag, and things aren’t going to get any easier after landing in straight NW tonight.  Pass.

3

Watchatalkin about

Had an eventful trip in his local debut only to finish a distant 5th, and I still think he appears overmatched against this crew.

4

My Roberto

Pryor was on the gas early and often in that last try, and provided the 2-5 fav with a ringside seat alongside.  Expectedly tired a bit late, but should be leaving for good position once again.

5

Easter Suprize

Not sure what caused the break at the start last time, but would need a big rebound to hang with the top ones in here.  I’ll watch for improvement.  Lachance opted to #7 instead.

6

Ohmybelle

Couldn’t get by her older rival last time down the lane, but still a solid effort to be 2nd.  Has hooked another tough rival tonight in #7, but her best effort puts her in play in behind.

7

Mindset

Teamed up with Lachance for a 10 length romp back on 7-20 at The Meadowlands, and I think we could be in store for the exact same thing here.  3yo colt looks to be much the best.  Lachance chose here over #5.

8

Feds Express

A nice even 4th place finish here last time, but keep in mind she finished far behind #6 in that try.  I could consider her for the minor awards only once again.

9

Twelve Twenty

Finished just in behind #8 last time, and paced evenly against tough rivals to finish 5th.  That’s about the best I could see for him in here once again.
