Red Mile Race Reviews

Sunday, October 6th

Track Handicapper – Gabe Prewitt

Race 1                     Selections                                4-2-5

1

Sheena’s Shadow

Held her own against overnight company in PA recently, but would still need to pick things up quite a bit to hang with the top ones in here.  Pass.  Tetrick opted to #4 instead.

2

Uncommon Night

Got the job done last week in what was the weaker of 2 LC divs, and appears to have hooked a better crew here this afternoon.  I’ll try her in behind the fav.

3

Tonato of Love

Made a break here last time, and is yet to prove she packs enough speed to hang with these.  Pass.

4

Dancehall Mistress

Canadian invader has hit the board in 8 of 12 this season while facing tough company, and appears to have landed in a very comfortable spot here on closing day.  No question the one to beat.

5

Good Intentions

Made a break in the midst of a big effort here last week, and I think she could be close in here as long as she keeps her mind on business.  Maybe.

6

Sina

Trotted an even 5th after getting caught up in the toughest of 2 divs here last week, but keep in mind she finished far behind #4 in there.  I could consider her for the minor awards only.  Tetrick opted to #4 instead.

7

Delmot

No threat here last week, and would need a complete turnaround to hang with these.

Race 2                     Selections                                6-5-7

1

Handover Belle

Picked up the pieces down the lane here last week to score in a LT best.  She has proven she loves this racing surface the last couple of seasons, her best effort puts her in the mix once again.  Tetrick opted to #6 instead.

2

Frau Blucher

Not quite sure what to think after that last effort, she never really appeared to relax in the 2 hole behind #5.  I tend to think she does her best work on the lead, and I would expect her to be winging it in here.

3

To Dream On

Rebounded with a big effort here last week, closing well to finish up a solid 2nd in behind #1.  Hasn’t been as sharp here in her 3yo campaign, but appears to be heading in the right direction.

4

Perfect Alliance

Trotted evenly here last week, but hooks some of the toughest fillies in the country here.  Can’t endorse her against these.  Callahan opted to #7 instead.

5

Mistery Woman

Solid effort here last week, and I’m still not convinced that she does her best work on the lead.  Plenty of options today from perfect mid-pack post.  Must respect.

6

Classic Martine

Hambo Oaks runner up has proven that she can hold her own with the best of the best, and actually finished in a dead heat with her stablemate (#2) in the $260k PASS Final.  Should offer solid value here.  TT chose over #1.

7

Ma Chere Hall

KYSS Champ has been a model of consistency since arriving locally here at The Red Mile, but it’s hard to take the fav here in what appears to be a WIDE OPEN affair.  No question her best effort puts her close.

8

Time to Kill

Decent effort here last time, but likely going to have to pick things up to contend for the major awards against these.  I’ll wait for a better spot.

9

Shared Past

No question she will be blasting early from way out here, but she was unable to parlay the perfect trip into a win here last week.  I could only try her for the minor awards once again.

Race 3                     Selections                                7-6-3

1

Mitey Pretty Win

Has encountered a ton of breaking problems recently, hard to jump on board with that in mind.  Pass.  D. Miller opted to #4 instead.

2

Cupcake

If I knew she was going to stay trotting, I would take a flier on this filly this afternoon.  Has proven she can trot with some tough foes, but arrives into today off 3 consecutive breaks.  I’ll watch this one.

3

Keystone Sadie

A notch below the top ones in that spot last week, but lands in what should be a much more manageable spot here this afternoon.  Her best effort puts her in the mix.  Picks up Pierce as well.

4

Antsy Dancey

Has had some severe stamina issues in those last couple of tries, and would have to find a lot more pop on the end of it to contend for the major awards in here.  D. Miller opted here over #1.

5

Lipstick Rose

Not sure she packs enough speed to hang with the top ones in here.  Pass.

6

Lovely Vacation

Made an uncharacteristic break here at the top of the lane last week to lose all chance.  Held her own with some tough overnight company prior on the east coast.  Needs a big rebound.

7

Clementine Dream

Unleashed a huge stretch rally here last time, coming up only a neck short at a big price.  Won’t get anywhere near that number here, but any similar effort should put her very close once again.

Race 4                     Selections                                2-5-4-7                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Herculotte Hanover

Lightly raced 3yo hasn’t displayed a ton of speed to this point in her 3yo campaign, and appears to have landed in a tough spot this afternoon.  Pass.  Tetrick opted to #5 instead.

2

Rockin With Dewey

KYSS runner up was solid in the local Q’fer, and came up just short of a top filly in the $250k KYSS final.  Anything remotely similar to that effort should be plenty enough in here.

3

Silver Credit

Change of tactics last week, and she never really looked comfortable after launching a first over attack.  We might see her revert back to that early speed here.  Needs her very best.  Callahan opted to #4 instead.

4

Déjà vu Too

Saved ground here last week en route to a nice 3rd place finish in behind a tough duo, and lands in what should be an easier crew this afternoon.  Any similar effort puts her in the mix.  Callahan opted here over #3.

5

Southwind Cocoa

Sprinted home nicely against stakes rivals here last week, and should enjoy the drop into LC action here this afternoon.   I could make a big case for her against these.  Tetrick opted here over #’s 1 & 6.

6

Online Exclusive

Decent against overnight company at Pocono, but likely still a notch or two below the favs in here.  Pass.  Tetrick opted to #5 instead.

7

Little Bitty Lies

Added lasix here last week against a tough crew, but that didn’t seem to pick her up much.  Might pick her up a bit more today, especially after landing in an easier spot.  Your call.

Race 5

See Television Monitors (2nd Heat Filly Futurity)

Race 6                     Selections                                2-6-8                       Start of the $15,000 Guaranteed Pick 4                See Ticket at the end

1

Banco Solo

Ended up with a tough first over trip here last week, but still held on decently to finish up a close 4th.  Lands in what appears to be a WIDE open crew here in big bulky field.  Your call.

2

Facing Justice

Conservatively handled here in what was his first start off an extended layoff last week, but believe me when I tell you he was going to win if he had found room late.  Should be primed and poised for this afternoon.

3

Zoli

No threat last week against similar, and I don’t see things getting any easier in here.  Pass.

4

Theatrical Session

Has put together a decent season this year against mid-level stakes company banking over $60k.  Lands in an ultra competitive crew here for his local debut.  Will need his absolute very best punch.

5

Air Stewart

Ended up a decent 3rd after a picture perfect journey here last week, but not sure things are going to work out that perfectly for him in here.  Tough spot.

6

Blazed

Unleashed a huge rally here last week, and lands in a perfect mid-pack post to seek out a similar journey in here.  Lightly raced 4yo appears to be rounding into career form.  Must respect.

7

Magglio

Overcame a break here in the Billings event last week to get the job done, but lands in what is a MUCH tougher crew on paper this afternoon.  Will have to be on top of his game here.  Your call.

8

Banker Volo

We last saw him in an actual race 364 days ago in the KY Futurity, where he finished up a decent 5th behind My MVP.  Not sure what caused the extended layoff, but his AM works have been solid.  Should offer good value.

9

Another Amaretto

Ended up scratched out of a spot last week where it appeared he had a big shot, and now gets slammed on the outside in a big bulky field this afternoon.  One of many with a chance here in wide open affair.

10

Here’s Johnny

Seemed to relax better on the lead here last week, but unfortunately faces a tough assignment this afternoon after landing way out in post 10.  Hard for me to endorse him in this spot.  Lachance opted to #9 instead.

11

Voodoo Victor

Trotted evenly here last week, but would still have to find quite a bit more to hang with the top ones in here.

12

Blue Porsche

Tired late here as the fav last week, but picks up the services of Callahan this afternoon.  Has his work cut out from post 12, but no question he fits with these.

Race 7                     Selections                                10-3-1-8                  50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Arch Madness

Wow!  What a dazzling performance the 9yo put on here last week, equaling his own LT best in 50.2.  Connections opt to start in post 1, and I would expect another aggressive first over steer.  Can’t overlook.

2

Appomattox

No threat here last week, and still appears to be a notch or two below the favs.  Pass.

3

Sevruga

Front end speedster couldn’t carry his speed here last week, and will have to find a bit more stamina to fend off tough rivals in here.  Has hit the board in 18 of 20 this season though, always finds a way to be close.

4

My MVP

2012 KY Futurity Champ never got involved from far outside post here last week in Elim, but lands in a perfect mid-pack post this afternoon.  Will have to pick things up a bit, but he has proven he can go with these.

5

Southwind Pepino

Indy invader arrives off back to back wins in the Invite at Hoosier, but would have to prove he packs enough speed to hang with the top ones in here still.  Pass.

6

Mister Herbie

Closed well here last week to finish up a close 5th, and should end up with a nice journey out in the cover flow once again here.  No question he will be flying late if they heat things up early.  Your call.

7

Quick Deal

Popped up with a HUGE effort after returning to trainer Ron Burke here last week, nearly pulling off the 36-1 upset over #1.  Any further improvement makes him a major threat.

8

Market Share

Unleashed a nice rally of his own here last week en route to a close 3rd place finish, and has been consistent on the top level all season.  No question he fits with these, but I’ll look for more value elsewhere.

9

Guccio

No threat against the top level in his last couple tries, and it won’t be easy today from way out here.  Pass.

10

Wishing Stone

The 2010 KY Futurity Champ returns to the red clay this afternoon, and unfortunately gets slammed with the outside post against a tough crew.  He has proven he can go with these, but needs his very best here.

Race 8                     Selections                                7-1-5

1

Rocklamation

Solid against the top level all season, hitting the board in 15 of 17 starts thus far in banking over $450k.  Lands on the pole here in iron tough crew.  Her very best should put her close once again.

2

Shelliscape

Note the barn change and the addition of lasix this afternoon, for a mare that has been only a notch or two below the top ones all season.  We will see if she shows any improvement.

3

Camille

Another from Team Burke here, and this mare shows finishing up close in behind #7 when she ends up with a decent journey.  Should find one in here after drawing inside in short field.  Maybe.

4

Bettor B Lucky

Maybe a notch or two below the top ones in here, I’ll wait for a better spot.  She would have to be really lucky to get the job done this afternoon.

5

Monkey on my Wheel

Canadian invader has been ultra consistent recently against the top level, and appears to have a big shot in here at the minor awards in behind the favs.  I’ll give her a try.  Sears opted here over #8.

6

Major Look

Not quite sure she is ready to tackle this type of company just yet.  I’ll pass for now.

7

Drop the Ball

Picked a terrible time to make a break in the $275k Milton last time at Mohawk, but she has been RAZOR sharp against the best mares in the country all season.  No question the one to beat.

8

Swinging Beauty

Finished up a close 2nd behind #1 last time at Mohawk in her 2nd start for new barn, and any similar effort should put her in the mix once again.  Your call.  Sears opted to #5 instead.

Race 9                     Selections                                1-6-3-7                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Bolt the Duer

Came up only a head short of #3 here last week, and I’m fairly convinced that he would have gotten by had he found clearance sooner.  Appears to be back on track, I’ll jump on board once again.

2

Sweet Lou

Double millionaire didn’t threaten after sitting in behind #3 here last week, and still appears to be a notch or two below the top ones at this point.  Would have to pick things u a bit.

3

A Rocknroll Dance

Razor sharp all season long, including his 48.4 victory here a week ago.  Continues to impress week after week, and he is obviously a major threat once again.

4

Up the Credit

Hasn’t been able to collar this level all season, and I can’t endorse him this afternoon.

5

Golden Receiver

Made his first start off a bit of a layoff here last week, and raced evenly in a decent 5th place finish.  Should be tightened up and ready to rock this afternoon.  Will need his absolute very best punch.

6

Pet Rock

The only entrant who accepted a bye last week, he arrives in town fresh off back to back World Record performances in Ohio.  A win today might give him the WR on all 3 size tracks.  Big shot.

7

Our Lucky Chip

Continues to prove that he belongs at the top level, finishing up a close 3rd in behind #’s 1 & 3 here last week.  It won’t be easy against this crew, I would expect a similar off the pace rally.

8

Escape the News

Tough trip here last week, but not sure he is ready for these under any circumstances.  I’ll pass.

9

Clear Vision

Never had a ton of early speed, and is likely going to be coming from FAR back once again this afternoon after landing out in post 9.  Not sure I like the sound of that.

10

Aracache Hanover

Ends up landing on the outside once again, and still appears to be a notch or two below the top ones in here.  I’ll pass.

Race 10                   Selections                                4-1-3

1

Creatine

Riding high on a 3 race win streak into this afternoon, including a division of the Bluegrass here last week.  Should end up with a perfect journey in behind #4.  Razor sharp right now, I wouldn’t underestimate him.

2

Punxsutawney

Took a big first over shot against #1 here last week, but was unable to wear him down late.  Still finished up a close 2nd, but things aren’t going to get any easier here against top foes.

3

Deadliest Catch

Had to settle for 3rd in behind #1 here last week, but I think he could’ve been a major threat had he been able to find clearance late.  Should provide good value once again this afternoon.  Pierce opted here over #6.

4

Royalty for Life

Has proven to be at the top of his class all season long in banking over $1.2 million.  No question Sears will be blasting out early, catch him if you can.  Has stamped himself as the fav to win the 121st KY Futurity.

5

E L Rocket

Came up just short in the $225k NYSS Final last week at Yonkers, and lands in what is an even tougher group this afternoon.  Can’t endorse him against these.

6

Home Turf

Parlayed a perfect trip into a victory here in LC action last week, but taking a step up to the major leagues here in stakes action this afternoon. Not ready for these just yet in only his 5th LT start.  Pierce opted to #3 instead.

7

Master of Law

Not really sure what to think here, I know he has a ton of talent but arrives into today off consecutive breaks.  I’ll wait until we see some improvement.

Race 11                   Selections                                6-5-1

1

All Laid Out

Has flown a bit under the radar recently, but has really rounded into top form over the last several starts.  Should sit close once again after landing on the pole.  Must respect.  Gingras opted to #7 instead.

2

Lauderdale

Has been a notch or two below the top colts all season, and appears to have landed in another tough spot here.

3

Wheeling N Dealin

Didn’t appear to have much trot at all when moved to the outside here last week, but did finally find his best stride down the lane to finish up a close 4th.  Needs his very best here.

4

Lindy’s Tru Grit

Solid effort after adding lasix here last week, finishing up a close 2nd in behind #6.  If he couldn’t beat him off that trip though, I’m not sure he is going to get the job done here.

5

Spider Blue Chip

Very impressive effort here last week, fending off his rivals down the lane to hold on for the victory.  Likely going to get a big jump on #6, catch him if you can.

6

Your So Vain

Looked to be in an impossible spot at the head of the lane here last week, yet somehow managed to charge past his rivals en route to the victory.  Should be close enough in short field once again.

7

High Bridge

Dominated a lesser crew on Jug Day at Delaware, but lands in a much better group here this afternoon.  Can’t endorse him against these.  Gingras opted here over #1.

Race 12                   Selections                                3-4-2

1

Camgrandest

A nice even effort here last week to be 3rd in behind #’s 2 & 4, and likely a contender for the minor awards once again.

2

Blatantly Best

Made an uncharacteristic break here last week down the lane, before regaining his traction to finish up a distant 2nd in behind #4.  Should be much closer assuming he minds his manners.

3

Odds on Equuleus

Top level stakes colt opts to drop into LC company this afternoon, and appears to be in a prime spot to pick up his first win on the season.  Major class relief here.  Tetrick opted here over #4.

4

Special Forces

Blasted out last week and rolled to an easy victory as the heavy fav, but lands in against a tough rival here in #3.  Will need his absolute best punch today.  Tetrick opted to #3 instead.

5

Mindset

Got the job done here last week as a heavy fav, but lands in what appears to be a much tougher crew here this afternoon.  I could only consider him for the minor awards against these.

6

Suncapade

No threat against many of these same rivals last week, and things aren’t going to get any easier in here.

7

Goose on the Rocks

Added lasix prior to that last effort, and it appears to have picked him up a touch.  Still not sure he is ready for these though.  Pass.

8

Van Gundy Hanover

No threat here last week, and lands on the outside against an even better crew.  Not today.

9

Charley’s Fastcat

Parlayed a perfect trip into a close 2nd place finish behind #5, but hooks an even better group this afternoon and lands on the outside as well.  Not typically a recipe for success.

Race 13                   Selections                                6-1-2-4                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

D’orsay

Not sure what caused her to make the break last time at Delaware, but had been razor sharp against the top mares in the country prior.  Should enjoy the stretchout to the mile oval here, appears to be the main threat to her stablemate (#6).

2

Bax of Life

Very easy win here last week in a sharp mile against LC company, but takes a step up today to take on the best of the best.  Finished a distant 2nd behind #6 two starts back, I could consider her for the minor awards only.

3

Cedar Dove

Has been knocking on the door against the top level all season, and keep in mind she loves this racetrack.  The 2011 Filly Futurity Champ will need her very best to hang with these.

4

Intense America

Has held her own against some tough older male rivals in Canada, but hasn’t had much success when taking on the top level mares yet this season.  I’ll wait for a better spot.

5

Unefoisdans mavie

Solid all season in the top ranks at The Meadows, but might be a bit of a stretch here against the best mares in the country this afternoon.  Not sure she is ready for these.

6

Maven

Absolutely vicious in a World Record mile on Jug Day at Delaware, and anything similar to that effort makes her the one to beat again this afternoon.  Must respect.

7

Check Me Out

Trotted a huge mile (51.2) here as a 3yo, but hasn’t come back as sharp thus far here in her 3yo season.  Would have to pick things up quite a bit still.  Tetrick opted here over #8.

8

Real Babe

Likely going to be sitting far back in here, and appears to be a notch or two below the favs still.  Pass.
