Red Mile Race Reviews

Sunday, September 15th

Track Handicapper – Gabe Prewitt

Race 1                     Selections                                4-1-5

1

Blue Diamonds

Has been knocking on the door locally against similar company, and should be in line for a nice up close trip after drawing inside in the short field.  Her best effort puts her close.

2

Fox Valley Sienna

Shot right up the inside last time to get up in time for the victory.  Lands in what appears to be an even tougher group tonight though, would need her absolute very best.

3

Tornado

We haven’t seen the tornado in over 3 weeks now, and he was scratched sick when scheduled to go here last week.  I would expect a conservative steer possibly after that, underneath only.

4

Cantab Jones

Appears to have some talent when he minds his manners, but I must admit the 2 breaks over the last 3 starts are a bit concerning.  We will hope the stretch back out to the mile oval helps.

5

Lipstick Rose

Found clearance very late last time, but did have a enough trot to surge past #1 for the victory.  I would expect a similar ground saving journey here, I could consider her for the minor awards.  Jerrell opted to #6 instead.

6

Swiss Alps

Tired a bit down the lane after a 2-move first over attempt, and I’m not sure things are going to get any easier here after landing on the far outside of contentious crew.  Needs more.  Jerrell opted here over #5.

Race 2                     Selections                                1-4-5

1

Bette Davis Eyes

We haven’t seen Bette in almost 3 months now, but her AM work wasn’t all that bad and keep in mind she was facing one of the best 3yo colts in the country.  Barn has been on a roll recently, I’ll take a shot.

2

Wikilikn Bluegrass

I wasn’t overly impressed with her freshman campaign, but I will point out that she was victorious in an Indiana fair in her only start of this season.  Still going to have to prove she can go with these.

3

Bluebird Musical

Stamina continues to be a major concern here.  I’ll pass for now.

4

Big Man Clyde

Tired late last time after a tough first over trip, but he still has the look of a better horse over those last couple of starts.  Must respect.

5

Hoosier Rosie

Rode the cones to a nice even 5th place finish behind some solid rivals last time, and lands in what appears to be an easier crew tonight.  Anything similar puts her in the mix.

6

I Scoot So Pretty

Indy invader is likely going to have to do it from last, and I’m not sure she offers the type of late kick needed to sprint by her rivals in here.  Pass.

Race 3                     Selections                                6-7-5

1

Medallist

Kicked home well in his local debut to come up within a head of pulling off the upset.  Lands back on the pole here, should continue to improve.  Looks to be a fairly wide open event.

2

Quiet Giant

Tried an aggressive move last time, and hung in well to finish up a close 3rd.  Another that continues to improve with each try, but would still have to pick things up to contend for the major awards against these.

3

Pink Marble

Once #2 popped by her last week I assumed she was going to tire badly, but she did fight fairly well to only be beaten 2 lengths in finishing 4th.  Still not sure she is ready to hang with the top ones in here just yet though.

4

Magic Glide

Had absolutely everything his own way on the front end last time, yet still caved in to finish 3rd in deep stretch.  Things are not going to get any easier tonight.   Pass.

5

Sister Star

Picked up a nice $20k check in the $250k KYSS final here on 9-1, and appears to be one of several with a shot in here.  Needs her very best.

6

Sheer Flex

First time starter looked razor sharp here in the AM last time, and with 3 Q’fers under his belt I am going to assume it is all systems go tonight.  I’m on board.

7

Danica

Canadian invader has held her own against some tough company in Ontario, and that was with her former trainer in the bike.  Now lands the services of Trace Tetrick, should pick things up a bit.

8

Catch Jesse

Indy invader appears to have landed on the outside of tough crew for his local debut.  Not tonight.

Race 4                     Selections                                6-1-2-5                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Bluebird Tizzy

Hard for me to endorse a mare that is 0 for 18 on the season, but I will point out that she gets major class and post relief tonight which should be to her liking.  Lands on the pole in WIDE open affair.

2

Looking for Love

Didn’t have much to offer after adding lasix prior to that last start, but I still think she may be a bit better when she blasts early to sit closer to the pace.  I would assume we could expect that tonight from post 2.  Maybe.

3

Shesgotwht everitis

She still doesn’t have much speed though.  Pass.

4

Jenny the Genie

Jenny raced evenly for her local debut after a bit of a layoff, and I could see her improving a bit here.  She will have to find some pop on the end of her miles to contend for the major awards though.  RJ opted here over #6.

5

Request to Win

She did get shuffled back here turning for home last Sunday, but I’m still not convinced she had a lot of late kick regardless.  Does take a bit of a class drop, but I’m still going to deny the request.

6

Ohnoyou didn’t

Yet another class dropping mare who has been facing FAR tougher company recently than she faces tonight.  I think this looks like a perfect spot for a drop & pop!  I’m on board.  Jerrell opted to #4 instead.

7

Scootin in Secret

Looks like another tough spot here, and that’s no secret.  Hard for me to endorse her against these.

8

It’s Fun

Right when I thought she may be rounding the corner a bit, she has come up empty recently.  Pass for now.

Race 5                     Selections                                1-4-2-7                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Perfect Alliance

Has more than held her own against some tough stakes rivals on the east coast, and now lands on the pole here in what appears to be a 2 horse race.  I like her chances.  Lachance opted to #4 instead.

2

Penn

Made a break in deep stretch last time, which cost him all chance of getting a big piece.  Likely going to be blasting out early once again, but facing a couple of very tough rivals in this spot.

3

B Q Bull

Hasn’t shown the type of speed locally to hang with the top ones in here.  Not tonight.

4

Fico

Ordinarily I would take a 3yo colt over a 3yo filly but I’m just not convinced this guy packs the same amount of speed as #1.  Most of his bigger miles he has been towed along.  I’ll try to beat him.  ML chose over #1.

5

Flatrock Flower

Has been a bit better recently but still a notch or 2 below the top ones in here.  I’ll pass for now.

6

Zoli

Very disappointing effort as a heavy fav after adding lasix prior to that last start.  No question it was not the best trip, but still he should’ve fired better than that.  I’m off the bandwagon.

7

Samburu

2yo hasn’t done a thing wrong to this point in his career, picking up over $73k for his local connections in KYSS action.  However, he faces a tough assignment taking on older rivals tonight from outside post.

Race 6                     Selections                                4-3-2                       $5,000 Guaranteed Pool Pick 4                             See Ticket at the end

1

Full Color Camo

No luck against similar company locally, and hooks an even tougher group tonight.  Pass.

2

New Rock to Roll

OH invader began his career with a couple of conservative steers up at Scioto, and I would expect a similar late rally here which should be enough to finish in behind the 2 favs.

3

Easter Surprize

Filly is off to a promising start to her career, finishing up very close in a couple of overnight events against solid rivals at Philly.  Looks like a 2 horse race, will need her very best against #4.  Lachance opted here over #4.

4

Perspective

From my perspective, I would much rather take a 2yo colt over a 2yo filly so I am going to land on this guy.  I will point out that he has made breaks in both tries thus far, but the AM works are solid.  ML opted to #3.

5

Mighty Unstoppable

Somehow I have a feeling they are going to find a way to stop him in here.  Pass.

6

Fiddle in the Band

Overmatched.

7

Always Working

Was a decent 5th in his local debut, and I suppose his best effort could put him in play for the minor awards but that’s your call.

8

Iknow everything

If something were to go wrong with anyone in the #’s 2-4 group, this looks like the guy that could sneak on the ticket for your minor awards.  Will be tough if everyone races on the square though.

9

Watchatalkin about

Lands in against a tough group in his local debut, can’t endorse him here.

10

Jazmin Mykal

Another that looks to be in deep water for her local debut.  Not tonight.

Race 7                     Selections                                5-4-6-1                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Feys Blitzen Grey

Finally dropped down to a level where he woke up with a better effort last time, and now he lands on the pole here against similar company.  Looks to be WIDE open.  Would like to see him knock one off here this season.

2

Dugan Run Dream

Gelding should find this to be much easier than the tough rivals he has taken on recently in the claiming ranks.  Should sit close after drawing inside, his best effort would put him in the mix.

3

Hey-Ho-A- Lena

OH invader has been racing evenly against similar rivals at Scioto, and is yet another that appears to have a big shot in WIDE open event.  Not a lot of early speed in here, she could blast out.  Shehan opted to #7 instead.

4

Royal Stargazer

Class dropper gets the slight edge as the fav, and quite honestly his best effort should be enough to take care of business in here.  He has been facing far tougher company.  Must respect.

5

Lu L Bluegrass

I wouldn’t be too hard on him after his local debut, as he made 2 moves and tired late.  Any smoother journey could put him in play here at what should be a big number.  I’ll take a flier.

6

Bar B’s Apache Cam

Another that has found himself in tough company recently, and finally drops down to a level where he should have some success.  Price should be right as well.  Maybe.

7

Lasting Endeavor

Raced much better than it appears last time, after leaving alertly and getting shuffled back.  It appears the lasix has helped her out a bit.  Still would need her absolute very best here.  Shehan opted here over #3.

8

Twotwenty Power

Tired badly on the front end last time, and keep in mind she is 0 for 26 the last couple of seasons.  I could only consider her for the minor awards at this point.

9

Feel the Jolt

Well we cant use them all, and this mare steps up in class after disappointing as the fav in her last and lands on the outside of a better group.  Not a great recipe for success.

Race 8                     Selections                                4-5-8-7                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Pleasant Rio

I actually thought he had a big chance down in class last week, but he could only manage 3rd after the tough trip.  Should be in line for a smoother journey tonight from the pole, but a bit tougher spot.  Your call.

2

Bullet Tooth Tony

Tony laid it all on the line last week, but got nailed in the final stride to lose by a nose.  Takes a step back up in class tonight, not sure I can endorse him against these.

3

Kiss Me Callie

Lone mare in the field had a solid debut for the new connections here in her first local start, getting nailed in the final stride to finish 2nd.  Taking on a bit better crew here, would need her very best.

4

Powerful Odds

Believe it or not he won last week at a big price, and now he gets to take a drop into what should be an even easier crew.  No question the one to beat if he comes back with a similar effort here.

5

Camwiser

Debuted for new connections last time, and ended up in a brutal spot after getting shuffled back with no place to race.  Should be good enough to go with these if he gets any kind of smooth journey.

6

Great Scot

Overcame a tough trip to finish 2nd here last time at 80-1, and likely will provide good value once again here.  Would have to pick things up to contend for any of the major awards still.

7

Straight Dancer

OH invader raced fairly well at Scioto on Thursday, and now arrives in town for his local debut.  Barn has had some success here, I could make a case.

8

Rock of Luck

Don’t be too hard on this guy for that last finish, as he had absolutely NOWHERE  to go down the lane last time and had to settle for a close 4th.  Any smoother journey puts him in play at a nice price.

9

Emery Vern

Closed well after sitting far back against similar company last time, and likely going to have to do it from last again here.  I could consider for the minor awards only.

Race 9                     Selections                                7-2-3-9-6                 10 Cent Super Hi Five Wagering

1

Thank You Mamma

Still appears to be a notch or two below her main rivals in here.  Pass.

2

Laredos Goose

Has put together a solid local campaign here for our leading trainer, and typically puts in a solid effort.  Should be sitting fairly close tonight, must respect.

3

Georgian Jiffyjane

Fired back with a big effort here last week, finishing up a close 3rd.  She will be all decked out in her patented pink gear, and her best effort would put her in the mix.  Smith opted to #7 instead.

4

JV’s Bad Boy

Not really sure what happened last time, but he was fairly dull here at this level.  Lightly raced this season, and it’s hard for me to jump back on board after seeing that.

5

American Village

Not quite sure what to expect here as we haven’t seen her in an actual start in almost 2 months.  Hard for me to endorse her with that in mind.

6

Our Little Pilgrim

Continues to knock on the door here against similar company, and should be in line for a nice trip out in the flow after landing in post 6.  Maybe.  Smith opted to #7 instead.

7

Fun Time

Kicked into another gear in the final 1/8 of a mile here Thursday, and surged past his rivals en route to the victory.  Not sure if he will get that kind of pace to chase tonight, will need his very best shot once again.

8

Baby Blue Pajamas

Was ‘ok’ here when in town prior, but she would still need to prove that she can hang with the top ones in here.  I’ll wait for a better spot.  Smith opted to #7 instead.

9

Mor Than Enuf Russ

Has been racing well at this level recently, but likely going to be coming from far back after landing on the far outside.  I could consider him for the minor awards only.
