Red Mile Race Reviews
Sunday, September 30th
Track Handicapper – Gabe Prewitt
Race 1 Selections 3-1-2-6
1
Bluff
Regally bred filly turned in
the most impressive start of her career with a wire to wire win on Jugette
Day in $51k Buckette, holding off Maven.
No question Tetrick will be on the gas early, catch her if you
can.
2
Real Babe
Banked over $142k on the
season without winning a race, picking up checks against some of the top
fillies in the country all year. Her
best effort puts her right in the mix once again.
3
On the Bright Side
Regally bred daughter of $2
million earner Passionate Glide, who has quietly put together a decent resume
of her own this season. Lands in what
appears to be the softer of 3 divs today.
Big shot.
4
D’orsay
Regressed into a couple of
breaks recently after getting used very hard here in her last win. Potentially a more conservative steer
coming here. I’ll wait until we see
some improvement.
5
Belle Nana
Handily defeated by #6 last
week in Delaware,
and appears to be a notch below the favs in here. Pass.
6
Canadian Justice
Speaking of quietly putting
together a nice season, this filly has won half of her starts including an
easy romp in $51k Buckette last week in Delaware.
Stepping up to the major leagues here though, needs her very
best.
Race 2 Selections 1-5-3-2
1
Guccio
I hammered down on this guy
in the $1.5 million Hambletonian, and he came up just a neck short at odds of
11-1. Almost lasted in the $1 million
CTC last time, only to tire in the final strides. Dodges many of his main rivals tonight,
which should certainly aid his cause.
2
Solvato
Trotted evenly against some
top stakes company recently, and should be in line to follow the favs with a
nice up close trip from post 2. I’ll
use him underneath.
3
Modern Family
Added lasix here in the AM,
and unleashed a big final kicker to sprint away from his rivals. Has proven he can hang with the big boys,
and any further improvement should put him very close. Lachance opted here over #4.
4
Muscolo
Parlayed a perfect trip into
a win in the $80k stake at Freehold last time, but has been a notch or two
below the top colts in the country all season. Hard to endorse him in this spot. Lachance opted to #3 instead.
5
Magic Tonight
Has hit the board in 6 of 12
on the season and that is with taking on all comers. Likely to be blasting early, appears to be
the main threat to the fav.
6
Scary Good
Stepping up to take on some
top colts today, likely to have to do it from last. I’ll wait for a better spot.
Race 3 Selections 7-3-2-5
1
JJ’s Beat the Rap
Held his own against
overnight company in Indy, but would still need to improve quite a bit more
to hang with the top ones in here. Not
tonight.
2
Zot
Just a cut below the top
colts in KYSS action, but appears to be well spotted here in a drop down to
LC action. His very best puts him in
the mix.
3
Red Rocks
Don’t sleep on this guy, he
had a big win against Open company here earlier this summer and appeared to
really get over this track quite well.
Any similar effort puts him close once again. Picks up Kramer.
4
Rules Clear
KY sired gelding returns to
the red clay tonight, but not sure what to expect after a nearly 8 month
break. Q’fed decently at Pocono, would
need his very best against these though.
Your call.
5
Air Stewart
OH invader has held his own
against some fairly tough overnight company in Columbus, and appears to be one of many
with a shot here in a fairly wide open crew.
6
Countmy muscles
Appears overmatched against
these. Pass.
7
One In A Million
This colt has a ton of
talent when he decides to mind his manners, but that has been very hard to
predict recently. Moves to the big
track for the first time since adding hobbles, I’m willing to try ONE more
time. Price is right.
8
Wheels
NY invader has trotted
evenly recently at Yonkers,
and should improve with the stretch out to the mile oval. Doesn’t appear to pack a lot of early speed
though, Schnittker will have to find a way to work him into the race.
Race 4 Selections 5-6-3-1
1
Uncommon Night
I’ll I can say is wow in
regards to that last start. Filly was
0 for life coming in with over $127k on her card, made a break at the start
to lose nearly 20 lengths yet came back to win. BIG step up here though.
2
Quarantine
Has really taken off since
arriving locally, but she has went off as a heavy fav in the weaker crews she
faced during our overnight meet. Would
still need to find a lot more speed to hang with the top ones in here.
3
Personal Style
I won’t ever forget her win
in the $714k Hambo Oaks back on 8-4, as she took advantage of the breakers to
win at odds of 57-1! Typically has a
big late kick if things set up for her, should be flying late once again.
4
Chilitoday hotamale
Couldn’t fend off #3 down
the lane in overnight last time at Pocono, and might be a notch or two below
the favs in here as well. One of
several with a shot at the minor awards.
5
Win Missy B
Made an untimely break at
the start as a heavy fav in the $225k NYSS last time at Yonkers, but had been solid on the NY
circuit prior. Connections opted to
switch pilots tonight as well.
Interesting…
6
Superstar Hanover
Finished up a game 3rd
in the $200k PASS Final last time behind the two divisional standouts, and
has proven that she can hang with the top tier all season. Must respect.
7
Oasis Dream
Added lasix prior to the
last start where she tired late to finish 3rd as a heavy fav. Not sure things are heading in the right
direction here.
Race 5 Selections 7-2-5-3
1
RockNJessie
Ohio SS Champ appears to
have landed in a tough spot for his local debut. I’ll pass for now.
2
Gym Tan Laundry
I’ve always been a big fan
of this colt, not sure what happened to cause him to break at the start going
for $1 million in the CTC. Appears to
be the main threat to the fav, but looks to be 2nd best in this
spot.
3
Lindys Jersey Boy
Parlayed a perfect trip into
a slim win over #6 last time in the $46k Keystone Classic in PA, but appears
to be just a step or two below the top tier this season. One of several with a shot behind the favs
in here.
4
Lightning Storm
Added lasix in the AM, and
hopefully that will help his stamina issues.
Still not sure he is ready to go with this crew, I’ll wait for a
better spot.
5
Banker Volo
Really looked sharp when he
burst onto the scene prior to the Hambo this year, and he has put together a
fairly solid resume hitting the board in 9 of 11. His best effort puts him in the mix once
again.
6
Money On My Mind
Couldn’t fend off #3 down
the lane last time at The Meadows as a heavy fav, and has been a bit
inconsistent recently when taking on the best of the best. Not sure I’m ready to hop back on board
just yet.
7
Little Brown Fox
Nearly dug in for the win
last time in the $1 million CTC, and has been on top of his game recently
taking on the very best. No question
the one to beat in my mind. Gingras
opted here over #1.
Race 6 Selections 1-7-4-2 Start of $10,000 Guaranteed
Pick 4 See Ticket at the end
1
The Lindy Reserve
Never worked into the race
against some tough foes last time in Canada, and lands in what should
be a much more comfortable spot tonight.
Should sit close from the pole.
2
Mr Chicago
Lightly raced colt showed
some improvement last time north of the border, and has flashed some glimpses
of speed in a limited amount of starts.
Any further improvement should put him squarely in the mix.
3
Rome
Hasn’t been on top of his
game locally, can’t endorse him against these. Pass.
4
Its Bush Time
Nearly pulled off a BIG
upset the last time we saw him at Pocono, getting nailed in deep stretch at
29-1! Lands in a field full of
question marks here, likely to be blasting early. Maybe.
5
Mikesbrother frank
Picked up a solid 3rd
against a decent field here last week, and lands in what should be a fairly
similar crew here. Appears to have a
shot at the minor awards once again.
6
Buck I Time
OH invader doesn’t pack a
lot of early speed, and I’m not sure if I like his chances of trotting by
many of his rivals in here late. I’ll
watch this one.
7
Say It’s True
Expectedly tired late after
attacking the eventual winner first over at Delaware last time, but put in a few solid
efforts prior in KYSS action locally.
He definitely fits with these.
Race 7 Selections 5-7-9-3
1
Defying Gravity
Has really taken off since
joining new barn 3 starts back, but likely faces his toughest task yet to
date today. Would have to step things
up even more here.
2
Maytime Terror
Has raced well against
similar company on the east coast, and should fit with these as well. Should sit up close to the pace. Andy Miller opted to #5 instead.
3
Arringarosa
I always like to see our
overnight horses try to step up to take on GC company, and there is no
question this guy packs some wicked speed.
Picks up the services of DM tonight as well. Your call.
4
Yakkity Yak Jack
Jack sprinted by his rivals
down the lane last time, and had to take on some of the top colts in the
country in the KYSS prior. Still would
need to picks things up quite a bit to go with the top ones in here.
5
Dutch Richman
Winless on the year thus
far, but likely lands in the softest spot he has seen all season. Plenty of options from perfect mid-pack
post. No question the classiest of his
rivals in here. Andy M. opted here
over #’s 2 & 7.
6
QB Killa
Had won 2 in a row before
the miscue last time, but appears to have landed in a much tougher group
today. I’ll pass against these.
7
Intervention
Sprinted away to a new LT
best last time in Philly, and is another that should fit with these if he
fires his best effort. Has hit the
board in 11 of 14 on the year. Andy
Miller opted to #5 instead.
8
Fiveknuckle shuffle
Gelding has NEVER missed the
board in 13 career starts, which included 10 wins. However, he has been missing for over 10
months now, and lands on the outside of a solid crew. I’ll have to watch one first.
9
Big Jer
MI invader has been RAZOR
sharp recently, and actually hasn’t done much wrong up until this point of
his career. Packs wicked early speed,
and will likely be blasting from outside post. Price is right as well.
Race 8 Selections 3-4-9-5
1
Lindmeyour victory
Trotted evenly in KYSS
action locally, and will likely be in line for another nice ground saving journey
here. Appears to be one of many with a
shot at the minor awards. Campbell opted to #3
instead.
2
Sterling Volo
Very impressed with her last
effort here where she sprinted by a solid group with ease. Appears to have finally rounded the corner
since arriving locally. Any further
improvement puts her close.
3
Four Damsals
NY invader was beaten less
than a length 2 starts back in the $191k Muscle Hill stake at Vernon, and lands in
what should be a much more manageable spot here. I can make a case. Campbell
opted here over #1.
4
Tactical Caviar
Packs a ton of early speed,
and is another that appears to be facing far lesser company tonight than what
she has seen recently. Anything close
to her best effort should put her close.
5
Massive Drama
Trotted evenly against a
solid group last time in Philly overnight, and has proven that she can hold
her own against similar company all season.
Doesn’t like to win a lot, but plenty of on the board finishes.
6
SereneLady
Doesn’t appear to pack the
speed to hang with these just yet.
Pass.
7
HSCertified
Not ready to go with the top
ones in here at this point. Pass. Pierce opted to #5 instead.
8
Mystical Escapade
Was an absolute runaway on
the front end at Delaware,
getting down to the half in 55 and ¾’s in 24.3. Expectedly tired badly late, but still
bottomed out most of the field to finish 2nd. Needs to ration out the speed.
9
Southwind Moni
Came up only a nose short
behind a nice filly in stakes action last time at The Meadows, and held her
own against similar company in the prior efforts. Her best puts her in the mix today.
10
KpngGrace
Regressed into a couple of
breaks recently and slammed with post 10.
Not a good recipe.
Race 9 Selections 5-9-6-4
1
Voluptuous Ronda
Never looked comfortable
before making the break last time in her local debut, and will need a big
rebound here. Lands on the pole,
should sit close if she minds her manners.
Gingras opted here over #8.
2
Fancy
Hasn’t shown a ton of late
pop recently, and would have to find some zip on the end of it to hang around
with the top ones in here late. I’ll
wait until we see some improvement.
3
Knockout Doll
Added lasix 2 back, but
still appears to be a notch or two below the top ones in here. Not today.
4
Gotcha Girl
Sprinted home to be 2nd
in an absolute monsoon in Indy last time, and trotted evenly to finish 5th
behind #5 in the $250k KYSS Final in the start prior. Does her best work from off the pace.
5
Northern Miss Hall
The Queen of the KYSS, as
she swept all 3 legs again this season to reign supreme. If she is anywhere close to that good again
today, it may be a long day for the rest of these. Must respect.
6
Feel the Pressure
Didn’t have a lot to offer
late last time, but did thread horses late in the prior start to finish up a
solid 2nd behind #5 in the KYSS Final. No question she will likely be blasting
early. Maybe underneath.
7
Perfect Beauty
Had been in career best form
prior to the break last time, but still not sure she is on the same level as
the top ones in this crew. I’ll wait
for a better spot.
8
Majestic Kash
Moved into the Burke barn
for those last 2 Q’fers, but still is yet to flash the type of speed needed
to go with the best in this group.
I’ll watch closely for any improvement. Gingras opted to #1 instead.
9
Love N Lindy
Trotted evenly to finish 3rd
behind a solid duo in the $51k Buckette last time in Delaware,
and has put together a nice campaign primarily in Canada hitting the board in 9 of
11. Certainly fits with these.
10
Rose Run Nellie
Ohio Sires Stakes Champ is
riding a 5 race win streak coming into tonight, but lands on the outside of a
solid group of fillies for her local debut.
No question the toughest group she has faced thus far.
Race 10 Selections 6-5-4-1
1
Ldees Credit report
Mare has been solid in the
top level at Indy, but unfortunately lands in against a couple of the fastest
trotters of all time today. Appears to
be one of many with a shot underneath of those two.
2
Miss DW Chip
Has gone from winning the
Open at Bluegrass Downs to facing Arch Madness & Chapter Seven here in
the Grand Circuit. This might be
asking a bit much for her. Tetrick
opted to #6 instead.
3
Waldorf Hall
Trotted evenly in the $205k
Indy stake last time, and is another with a shot at the lesser awards behind
the 2 favs.
4
Haulin Laser
Held his own on the top
levels at Indy, but a whole new ball game against the top duo in here. Appears wide open for the minor
awards.
5
Arch Madness
Gelding continues to take on
the best of the best here at age 8, with career earnings over $3.6
million. Has been very good in his
last couple, but has his work cut out against #6.
6
Chapter Seven
I have a good feeling that’s
what you may have to file if you bet your money against this guy today… No trotter has ever gone a sub-50 mile on a
mile track. Could he become the first
this afternoon?
7
Blueridge Legacy
Finally pulled off his first
win on the season last week as a heavy fav, but he’s not ready to hang with
the top ones in here. I’ll wait for a
better spot. Tetrick opted to #6
instead.
Race 11 Selections 4-5-7-1
1
Dream On Hanover
Unfortunately hooks both of
the divisional leaders here tonight in Bluegrass
action, but should sit close and save ground throughout. Maybe underneath.
2
Can’t Have My Moni
Can’t miss pedigree, out of
the ’12 leading sire Cantab Hall and the $5.5 million mare, Moni Maker. Has been a bit inconsistent recently
though, and lands in quite the shark tank here.
3
Anandamide
Held her own against some
tough company on the NYSS circuit this season, hitting the board in 7 of
8. That being said, she lands in an
impossible spot here.
4
Maven
Call me a glutton for
punishment, but I have continuously tried her on top of #5 this year and it’s
yet to work out that well thus far. No
question both fillies are in a league of their own. Take your pick.
5
Check Me Out
Rebounded after a break in
the $714k Hambo Oaks with 4 consecutive victories, including a win 2 back
against #4 in the $200k PASS Final.
It’s a pleasure to have them in the same division today, enjoy the
show.
6
Sassy Syrinx
Lightly raced filly picked
up some nice coin when she was placed 3rd in the Hambo Oaks
earlier this summer, but still hasn’t proven she can hang with the top ones
in this crew.
7
Valdonna
Hard to fault this filly
recently, as she has put in some vicious late rallies to finish up closely
behind the 2 favs in stakes action.
Likely to be flying late once again.
Race 12 Selections 1-4-6-3
1
Fusion Man
Dominated in the $250k KYSS
Final 2 starts back, but had the tables turned on him when his speedy rival
made the front end at Delaware
last time. He loves this track though,
anything close to his best should be good enough.
2
Big Chocolate
Off to a slow start here in
his sophomore campaign, but appears to have gotten things back on track by
beating up on some overnight company in the midwest since adding lasix. Still going to have to pick it up a bit
more.
3
Appomattox
Never in the $1 million CTC
after being slammed with post 10 last time out, but appears to have landed in
the most comfortable Bluegrass div for his
local debut. His best should put him
close.
4
Beer Summit
Not sure what happened last
time, but has proven he can hold his own with some of the top colts in the
country this season. Packs plenty of
early speed if Pierce elects to step on the gas.
5
From Above
Caught fire here last year,
but has likely been a bit of a disappointment for his connections this
season. Not an overly tough group for
this level though, his best effort puts him in the mix.
6
Another Amaretto
Sprinted away from his
rivals to win the $46k Keystone Classic in a LT best last time, and lands in
what appears to be a fairly wide open crew of stakes colts here. Any further improvement puts him in
play.
7
Go Tapaigh
Hasn’t proven he can go with
the top colts thus far, and lands on the outside of an ultra competitive crew
here. Not sure I can endorse him
against these.
Race 13 Selections 4-10-5-3-8 10
CENT SUPER HI FIVE WAGERING
1
Ballistic Tip
($1.3k Del yearling) Has been ok in local
overnight company, but appears to be facing a much tougher group here. Not sure he is ready to go with these just
yet. Tetrick opted to #9 instead.
2
Native Blue
Just a short nose from being
undefeated prior to tonight, but we haven’t seen him in nearly 2 months and
he has changed barns as well. Q’fer
was not overly impressive in Indy.
I’ll watch one first. Campbell
opted to #8.
3
Card Knock Life
($50k Lex yearling) Has been
solid against some tough company on the east coast thus far, and any similar
effort should put him in the mix here.
4
Resistance Futile
($33k Lex yearling) No
question he packs plenty of speed, but has had some breaking problems thus
far in his brief career. Connections
tried him against stakes company so they are likely high on his ability.
5
Mindset
($150k Lex yearling) High
priced yearling makes his career debut after only one AM work, where he
sprinted home and held his ground for the most part into a big 55.1 back
half. Should continue to improve.
6
Kiss My Donkey
Doesn’t appear to pack the
speed to hang with the top ones in here right now. Pass.
7
Dragon’s Rule
Raced evenly in his last
couple against mid-level stakes company, and continues to improve with each
start. Not an easy group here, would
have to improve even more to contend for the major awards.
8
Fudge
($35k Lex yearling) Has been
facing fairly tough overnight company in Canada thus far, but was a bit
dull last time to finish a distant 3rd as the odds on fav. Looks to have landed in a similar spot
here, needs even more.
9
Ring Leda
($65k HB yearling) Doesn’t
appear to have much early speed, and not sure I like how things set up for
him from way out here. I’ll wait for a
better spot. Tetrick opted here over
#1.
10
Only the Lonely
Regally bred colt out of
stakes winning mare Lonesome Day, put in an impressive performance in his 2nd
start for new connections last time after coming 1st over in the
$106k Babic. AM has to find a way to
work him in it.
