Red Mile Race Reviews

Sunday, September 8th

Track Handicapper – Gabe Prewitt

Race 1                     Selections                                2-3-5

1

Medallist

Trotted evenly against mid-level stakes company in PA, and lands in what appears to be an absolutely WIDE open field here in the opener.  Your guess is as good as mine in here.

2

Simply Class

Indy invader scored against mid-level stakes company, and added a decent Q’fer at Hoosier as well.  Fairly long ship down from Indiana, barn would no doubt love to put a decent 2yo mark on her.  I’ll take a shot.

3

Quiet Giant

Continues to improve with each start, and I would expect him to take another step forward here.  Has finished up pretty much in hand in both of the prior starts.  Must respect.

4

Pink Marble

Local debut and only the 2nd LT start for this filly, but she appears to have some stamina issues thus far in her brief career.  I’ll wait until we see some improvement.

5

Victory Scene

Not sure what has happened to this guy after having a very promising start to his career, but the train has gotten off the tracks.  Beaten as a heavy fav in both KYSS starts.  Likely a smoother journey coming here.  Maybe.

6

Rebecca’s Girl

Doesn’t appear to pack the speed to hang with the top ones in here just yet.  Pass.

Race 2                     Selections                                5-3-7

1

Pepstepn’ Penelope

Takes what should be a fairly significant drop tonight into our bottom level condition, and lands on the pole in short field.  Another fairly wide open crew.  Needs her very best.  Shehan opted to #5 instead.

2

Jenny the Genie

Local Q’fer was decent but keep in mind we haven’t seen her in an actual start now in over 45 days.  I’ll watch one first.

3

Feel the Jolt

Put in a big effort here on Thursday, and anything similar to that should put her in play once again.  Must respect.

4

Hatsoff for Gracie

An even effort once again on Thursday, and still appears to be a notch or two below the favs in here.  I’ll pass for now.

5

Jen Finn

Got caught up in a huge mile here last time, and appears to have landed in a much more manageable spot tonight.  No question her best effort puts her squarely in the mix.  Shehan opted here over #’s 1 & 6.

6

Feelin Rosie

Only 1 2nd place finish to show for 17 starts on the season, but she is taking a drop tonight into what will be the softest crew she has faced all year.  Will it wake her up a bit?  I’m not so sure.  Shehan opted to #5 instead.

7

Looking for Love

Not sure what happened last time to make her pack it in like that, but we will excuse her with the off track.  Should be blasting early once again, her prior efforts would be enough to put her in play.

Race 3                     Selections                                2-6-3

1

Dont Goa Way

Added lasix prior to the last start, but that didn’t seem to pick her up enough to contend for the top awards in here.  Still would have to pick things up quite a bit.

2

Lacys Friskie Gal

Heads up drive by JN here on Thursday, as he moved this mare to the top down the backstretch and nearly stole the victory.  Very sharp effort nonetheless, should be close once again.  Has been knocking on the door.

3

Goodtimin Cam

OH invader knocked off a field of conditioned claimers last time at Scioto to pick up his 1st career win in start #40.  Do you think he is going to start a win streak now?  I wouldn’t bank on it.

4

Bluebird Musical

Hasn’t had much success recently, would take a complete turnaround here.  Pass.

5

Blueridge Hera

If she couldn’t get by that last rival after the perfect trip, it’s hard for me to think things will get any easier against this crew.  Pass.

6

Big Man Clyde

Much improved last time to finish up a solid 3rd, and anything similar to that should put him in play once again.

Race 4                     Selections                                6-1-4-5                                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Big Town Arizona

Tired late after trying to go down the road here last time, but lands on the pole tonight in what is possibly the softest crew he has faced locally.  Should be very close in here.

2

Stone Cold Fever

Hasn’t finished within shouting distance over the last several.  Pass.

3

Gran Hiratzka

Haven’t been overly impressed with either local try, and still appears to be a notch or two below the top ones in here.  I’ll pass for now.

4

Bullet Tooth Tony

Tony was a nice even 5th off the layoff last time, and he should continue to improve tonight in his 2nd start off the shelf.  This isn’t an overly tough crew.  I could put a few bullets on him against these.

5

Take a Shot Scott

Decent effort against similar company here on Thursday, but I’m still not sure I’m ready to take what figures to be another short price on him here.  I’ll take a shot underneath only.

6

Pleasant Rio

Takes yet another drop down tonight, and I expect this guy to wake up a bit here.  Hasn’t caught a field this easy in a LONG time.  I think he is worth a shot here at a square number.

7

Leadmeto thetruth

Completely packed it in over the last couple of starts, would take a complete turnaround here.  Pass for now.

8

It’s Fun

Racing evenly against a bit tougher company recently, and should enjoy the class relief tonight in our bottom level.  Likely going to have to do it from last though, not sure I like her with that in mind.

Race 5                     Selections                                7-3-5-2                                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Blueridge Hall

No match for conditioned company here on Thursday, and now lands back in for the claiming tag.  Should sit close from the pole, but still going to need to pick things up a bit.

2

Doc’s Sea Lion

Tough trip here on Thursday, but he continued to fight until deep stretch.  Has been fairly solid since moving to this level, and any similar effort should put him very close.

3

J V’s Bad Boy

Absolutely scorched in his only other local start in what was only his 2nd try of the season.  Should continue to improve here in his 3rd try of the year, moves into claiming company as well.  Maybe.

4

Change Agent

Hasn’t been on top of his game in the last couple, but the move to claiming company should wake him up a bit.  I would think his best effort puts him in play against this crew.

5

Laredos Goose

Snapped a 3 race win streak here on Thursday, and I must say he didn’t look as sharp as we had seen him prior.  Logging a lot of miles recently for Team Anthrottle.  Which Goose shows up here?  I’m not sure.

6

Hillcrest Domingo

A bit of an improved effort last time, but still appears to be a couple of notches below his main rivals in here.  I’ll pass for now.

7

Our Little Pilgrim

Unleashed a big late kick when he finally found a seam here on Thursday, coming up just short of pulling off the upset.  I would expect another off the pace rally here.  Any similar effort puts him close.

Race 6                     Selections                                9-10-7                     $5,000 Guaranteed Pick 4 Pool                             See ticket at the end

1

Fox Valley Shout

IL invader lands on the pole here in WIDE open beginning of tonight’s Pick 4.  Should sit close, maybe a shot at the minor awards.

2

Supreme Day

No question this filly has a shot to make some noise, but I’m honestly not willing to take a flier on her here at a short price.  I’ll look for more value elsewhere.

3

Gitti

Decent 2nd place finish here behind a nice youngster in the last try, but it doesn’t appear that things are going to get any easier here.  Still would need to pick things up quite a bit.

4

Mr Justice

Gelding has begun to round the corner a bit over the last couple of starts, and is one of many that appear to have a shot to land on the ticket here to kick off the Pick 4.  Any further improvement puts him in play.

5

Andetorn Hall

Regressed into a break last time, and still appeared to have some stamina issues prior.  I’ll pass for now.

6

Whats the Plot

Well beaten the only time we saw her locally, not willing to jump on board after seeing that.

7

Berto Adalina

Nearly held off the heavy fav here on Thursday en route to the 10-1 upset, but was collared in the final stride.  Has been consistent against similar company all season, and anything similar puts her close once again.

8

Dream on the Rocks

Hasn’t had much to offer recently, and it’s hard to jump on the bandwagon just yet.  I’ll watch another first.

9

Keystone Sadie

East coast invader makes her local debut for a barn that typically has some success locally.  Coming off a scratched ‘injured’ line though and a break prior.  Causes a bit of concern, but price should be right.

10

Delmot

Solid effort here last week to be 3rd behind a couple of nice youngsters, but unfortunately gets slammed with post 10 here.  Won’t be easy from out here, will need her very best.

Race 7                     Selections                                1-3-9-8

1

Sharp Dressed Guy

Gelding is yet to miss the board in 7 LT tries, and he has been finishing close in behind some solid rivals locally.  Lands in the softest spot of his career tonight.  Should dominate this crew.

2

Sharkupn kissme

Hasn’t shown any stamina locally, should be in line for a nice trip behind #1 but would have to pick things up quite a bit.  Not yet.

3

Iknow everything

Rode the cones to an even 4th place finish last time, and appears to be one of many with a shot at the minor awards in here behind the fav.  I’m willing to toss him on the ticket underneath.

4

Doin’fine Betsylou

1st time starter wasn’t overly impressive here in the AM, I’ll watch one before hopping on board.

5

Fiddle in the Band

We haven’t seen her in almost a month after the consecutive ‘sick’ scratches.  Hard to endorse with that in mind.

6

Forever Lexie

Q’fed evenly here in the AM, but not sure she is ready to contend for any of the major awards in here just yet.  I’ll watch her go around once first.

7

My Mindy

Finished a far back and distant 3rd in her local debut, and still not sure she packs enough speed to hang with the top ones in here.  I’ll pass for now.

8

Cicely Hanover

Ended up with a picture perfect journey last time as a heavy fav, but could only manage to be 2nd behind the runaway winner.  Don’t think she can win it, but anything similar puts her in play for minor awards.

9

Mighty Unstoppable

I must admit I was unsure why he made that break last time, but it appears to be an equipment issue.  I’m willing to give him a pass for that and I’ll try him in behind once again.

10

Always Working

OH fair invader is tough to gage recently, but has been given a tough assignment from way out here.  I’ll watch him tour the oval once locally.

Race 8                     Selections                                5-6-8-2                                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Haus Seelster

I wasn’t overly impressed with the local Q’fer, I’ll watch him go around once locally first.

2

Flatrock flower

Parlayed a perfect trip into a close 3rd place finish here on Thursday as a big longshot, not really sure where that effort came from but should be able to sit close once again here.  Maybe.

3

Fox Valley Sienna

Should enjoy the local class relief, for a mare that has hit the board in over half of her LT starts (37 of 73).  Her best effort certainly puts her in the mix.

4

Mikey’s Trottintoy

Hard to gage those recent efforts on the OH fair circuit, but I wasn’t overly impressed with the prior efforts in Columbus or Cleveland.  I’ll pass for now.

5

Floating Ivy

We haven’t seen him in a few weeks, but I still think we should see an improved effort tonight in his 3rd start back on the season.  Any further improvement should put him very close, I’m willing to take a shot.

6

Tornado

Exits KYSS action and should enjoy the major class relief here against overnight company tonight.  Likely a very short price looming though, is he worth the risk?  Not in my opinion.  Bolon opted here over #7.

7

Like a Dream

Making his 1st start of the year tonight, I’ll have to watch one first after he was scratched sick here last week.  Bolon opted to #6 instead.

8

Swiss Alps

No match for KYSS company last time, but won a similar event prior.  Likely blasting early from post 8, should sit very close at a nice price.  Must respect.

9

Global Winner K

Well beaten in the Open here last week, but was huge against lower level company prior.  Has his work cut out from post 9, and will need his very best.  I’ll pass for now.

Race 9                     Selections                                4-8-9-1-2                                 10 Cent Super Hi Five Wagering

1

Twotwenty power

A nice even 3rd place finish last time at this level, and should get another up close journey after landing on the pole.  One of many with a shot here in WIDE open finale.

2

Tricky Grin

Solid rally against similar company here on Thursday to be 2nd, and is another one of many that appears to have a big shot at the major awards.  Your call.

3

Request to Win

Blasted out early here on Thursday, only to tire badly late.  Would have to find a lot more stamina to hang around for a piece tonight.

4

Camwiser

Fresh claim here for new connections for a gelding that has been very sharp since arriving locally.  Should have a big shot to make some noise in here if he is as sharp.  Tough call.

5

JB’s Cutie

Has been decent here in her last couple of tries, but facing a solid group of rivals here tonight.  Will need her absolute very best to have a shot against this crew.

6

Lasting Endeavor

Added lasix prior to that start on Thursday and it did appear to help her out a bit.  Still not sure she is ready to hang with top ones in here just yet.  Nothing would shock me though, again it’s WIDE open.

7

Feys Blitzen Grey

Grey gelding hasn’t been on top of his game recently, but I must admit that he is facing what might be the softest spot he has seen here locally all season.  Anything close to his best gives him a BIG shot.

8

Tiene’s Leche

BIG drop in class for the Hoosier invader, but I do have a bit of concern with 2 breaks in the last 5 starts.  No question she is likely the best, but we will likely see a very short price.  Maybe.

9

Emery Vern

Much better in the local Q’fer than what we had seen prior, and I would expect Pluta to be blasting early from way out here if he minds his manners.  Shows a BIG win from earlier this year at Cali in 52.4.

10

Great Scot

An even 3rd at this level last time, but now slammed with the far outside post in a contentious crew.  It won’t be easy from way out here.
