Red Mile Race Reviews
Sunday, September 9th
Track Handicapper – Gabe Prewitt
Race 1 Selections 2-4-10-9
1
March Awareness
1st time starter tried
to Q’fy on numerous occasions and finally went around the track without
making a break last time. Not ready to
hop on board just yet.
2
Lil Miss Brinley
Regressed into a break last
time, but was on fire down the lane in the prior start to come up only a nose
short in finishing 2nd.
Anything similar to that puts her close once again.
3
JP That Big George
Scratched here last week
when he was scheduled to make his career debut, Q’fers weren’t overly
impressive prior. I’ll pass for now. Tetrick opted to #8 instead.
4
Mikey’s Trottin toy
2yo has held his own against
mid-level stakes company in Indy thus far, and lands in a fairly comfortable
spot for his local debut. His best
effort puts him squarely in the mix.
5
Winky’s Truffle
Didn’t have a lot to offer
in her debut, and came up sick last time.
I’ll watch this one. Tetrick
opted to #8 instead.
6
Big Short
Doesn’t appear to pack the
speed to go with these just yet, and appears to have some breaking
issues.
7
Etienne
Another that doesn’t look to
be ready to hang with the top ones in here just yet.
8
Blue Martini As
Trotted evenly in the local
Q’fer after making a break in her only actual start in Indy. Probably in line for a conservative steer
here. I’ll pass for now. Tetrick opted here over #’s 3 & 5.
9
Rose Run Melanie
Had some late trot last
time, coming up only a length and half short of gunning down #10. Likely to be coming from off the pace once
again and should pick up some of the pieces late.
10
Kentucky Freeze
I’m willing to excuse that
last start when the track was an absolute mess last Sunday, and this filly
had been ultra consistent here prior.
Likely to be blasting early from way out here. Maybe.
Race 2 Selections 5-2-3-6
1
Don’tcheat onafilly
Had a perfect trip behind #2
last time, but was no match for her late in finishing a distant 2nd. Would need a LOT
more to hang with some tough fillies here.
2
Simone Hall
This filly has done
absolutely nothing wrong in two blowout wins since arriving locally, but she
has hooked the weaker divisions as well.
No question she has a lot of talent, but I will look for value
elsewhere.
3
Ma Chere Hall
Not sure what happened last
time with the ‘sick’ scratch, but the opening leg was ultra impressive as she
absolutely exploded by her rivals when she shook loose down the lane. Anything similar puts her in play.
4
V Six
Not sure she has the
horsepower to stay close with these.
Pass.
5
Andie Sophia
Unleashed a furious rally
down the lane last time to come up only a neck short to #6. The lone Like A Prayer in the $250k final,
he has sired a ton of great trotters here over the years. Lands in perfect mid-pack post.
6
True Day Dream
She has been a true dream
for the connections, riding a 5 race win streak and yet to miss the board in
7 tries. No question she is headed for
the top, but it’s her toughest task to date.
Catch her if you can.
7
Caneel Hall
Trotted evenly in both
preliminary legs, but things aren’t going to get any easier here. Needs more.
8
Dewey Lane
Absolutely dominated her
rivals last time, after making a break in the opening leg. She appeared to have plenty more in the
tank but draws on the outside of her main rivals. Won’t be easy.
9
Kijafa
Maybe a notch below the top
ones and likely to be sitting far back early.
Not tonight.
10
Dana Boko
Continues to improve with
each start, but slammed with post 10 in tough group.
Race 3 Selections 1-4-2-6
1
Ohmybelle
How can you fault this
filly? Never been worse than 2nd
in 10 tries. Used very hard early last
time, and still dug deep to hold 2nd. BIG money on the line here, she will likely
go down swinging if anyone takes an early shot once again.
2
Diligent Prospect
Finished up a game 2nd
in her opening leg try, but never appeared comfortable before fading to a
distant 4th place finish last time. Which DP shows up here? Good question.
3
Caribbean Treasure
Typically not a great way to
be heading into the final after getting rimmed every step the start prior and
fading late to finish last. She
actually hung in there for a long way though.
Should be able to sit and pounce tonight.
4
So Nice
Unleashed a furious rally to
explode by her rivals last time in only her 3rd time ever behind a
starting gate. That’s a BIG mile for
this early in her career. If she can
sustain it or keep improving it won’t be So Nice for the rest of these.
5
Olive Oyle
Skipped the 2nd
leg for overnight event in Philly, and she is yet to display much stamina
thus far in her brief career. Would
have to pick it up quite a bit to hang with these. Sears opted to #6 instead.
6
KZ Beach Girl
Passed a couple of tired
ones late last time to pick up 3rd, but she is yet to really
improve off that win over #1 3 starts back in $8.5k KY Fair Final. Her best effort puts her right in the mix
though. Sears chose over #5.
Race 4 Selections 3-5-8-2
1
Winchester
Couldn’t survive on the lead
as the fav in similar company last time, and appears to have hooked an even
tougher group tonight. I would use him
underneath only.
2
Milburn
Right when I thought he was
headed in the right direction he made a break at the start the other night,
but I suppose we can excuse that given the track was a mess. Could be a live longshot if he reverts back
to the prior start. Smith opted to #5
instead.
3
Ellie’s Best Dream
Uncorked a wicked late rally
last time to turn in a dominating win under wraps. I was VERY impressed by that effort, and
I’m willing to hop right back on board tonight.
4
Big Man Clyde
Big Clyde
continues to puzzle me, he has looked great in AM Q’fers but he continues to
struggle putting it together under the lights. I’ll wait until we see him show some signs
of improvement. TS opted to #5.
5
Real Rocker
Appears to have been handled
fairly conservatively in his 1st LT start in Indy, but he sprinted
home late to pick up a close 3rd.
Should get a more aggressive steer in 2nd career try, looks
like a nice youngster. Tyler Smith
opted here over #’s 2 & 4.
6
Looksgood onu
Doesn’t appear to pack the
speed to hang with these just yet.
Pass.
7
Sweet Valentine
Lands in a much easier crew
than she faced in her first local try, but she would still need her very best
effort to make any kind of major noise against these.
8
Margarita Monday
Her full brother (Bolt the
Duer) is the fav in tonight’s 10th race, and one of the nicest
colts in the country. She’s obviously
not like her brother, but she can hang with this crew on her best night.
9
Doc’s Coco
Takes a fairly sizeable step
up tonight from the condition claiming ranks, and appears to have her work
cut for her from post 9.
10
Mystic Rose
Has had all sorts of trouble
recently and slammed with post 10. Not
tonight.
Race 5 Selections 4-1-5-6
1
Gisela As
Was dead game last time, and
nearly fought off #4 down the lane.
Lands on the pole tonight, and may get the jump on her main rival once
again. She was the runner-up in last
year’s $250k final.
2
Abby
Tired badly in her last
couple of stakes tries, and she is going to have to find a lot more stamina
to hang with this crew.
3
Feel the Pressure
Never looked comfortable
last time before making the break at the top of the lane, but was a nice 2nd
to #1 in the opening leg 2 starts back.
Would need a big rebound to pick up one of the minor awards here.
4
Northern Miss Hall
Last year’s champ has proven
to be the Queen once again with back to back wins in the opening legs prior
to tonight’s $250k final. Only real
threat appears to be #1.
5
Gotcha Girl
Not sure what made her jump
offstride at the start last time, but the prior start she followed #4 up
perfectly and parlayed that into a nice 2nd place finish. Could be in line for a similar journey here
from perfect mid-pack post.
6
Lindmeyour victory
Another that typically likes
to set up an off the pace rally, and has a couple of solid 3rd
place finishes in the opening legs.
Should get towed into it nicely as well.
7
Northern Cindy
Doesn’t appear to pack the
speed to hang with these. Pass.
8
Delmary
Didn’t have anything to
offer from 2nd tier last time, and was an even 4th in
the start prior. Doesn’t appear to be
on the same level as the favs in here.
Tetrick opted to #1 instead.
9
Dazzling Valley
Likely to be sitting far
back early from post 9. Not sure I
like that scenario in here. Wrenn
opted off for #3.
10
American Saint
Tough call here, filly has
some talent but didn’t race well on the lead in the opening leg and was even
from post 10 last time. Certainly has
her work cut out for her from way out here with all the favs inside.
Race 6 Selections 7-1-8-2 Start of the $5,000
Guaranteed Pick 4 See ticket at the end
1
Prayer Session
Defending Champ lands on the
pole tonight and that should certainly aid his cause for a repeat. Mowed down late last week by #7, likely to
be on the lead once again with a short price looming.
2
Awsome Valley
Made a bobble at the start
last time only to get back down and march to a first over win in a new LT
best! Appears to be peaking at the
right time, should be in line for a nice trip up close.
3
Say It’s True
Never in it last time, but
pulled off a big upset in the opening leg at 17-1! They could heat it up early going for this
kind of money, and if they do….
Here comes Say It’s True.
Tetrick opted off to #6.
4
Red Falkor
Appears to be improving
since joining Team Burke, but still appears to be a notch below the favs in
here.
5
Rapids N Currents
Trotted evenly last time
against the top colts, but is still going to have to pick it up quite a bit
to contend for any of the major awards.
Sears opted to #4 instead.
6
Charming Dream
Couldn’t fend off #2 as the
heavy fav after having things his way on the front end last time, and now is
facing the best of the best in the final.
Going to have to pick it up even more.
Tetrick opted here over #3.
7
Fusion Man
Never looked comfortable 2
starts back, but they got him figured out by the 2nd leg because
he absolutely blew by #1 with relative ease.
Should be in line for another off the pace rally here. I’ll hop on board.
8
Quel Bourbon
Used very hard last time
leaving, and then popped back out for an aggressive first over attack against
#1. After all that, he still managed
to hang on for 4th. Might
be in line for a nice journey tonight behind #7. Live longshot?
9
Zot
Likely to be sitting far
back early, and appears overmatched against the top colts. Pass.
10
Enrico As
Ended up with a perfect trip
behind #1 last time which resulted in a decent 3rd place
finish. Not sure things are going to
work out that perfectly from way out here though.
Race 7 Selections 1-7-5-8
1
Blatantly Best
Rallied from far back last
time to what was probably going to be a very close 2nd place
finish to #7 before the break in the stretch.
That was the first defeat of his career. Land on the pole, should sit much
closer.
2
Nutmegs Maya
Tired late after being used
hard early in his last start, but should benefit from sitting close to the
pace in here. Appears to be one of
several with a shot at the minor awards.
3
A List
Had a couple of tough first
over journeys in the opening legs of KYSS action, and still going to have to
prove that he can hang with the top ones in this group.
4
Summons
Doesn’t appear to pack the
speed to hang with these just yet.
Pass.
5
Talk It Up
Unbelievable effort to get
used early and still have plenty enough pace to finish up a game 2nd
behind #7. Continues to improve with
each start, and I’ll use him underneath once again.
6
Jude Hall
Raced evenly against tough
crew last time, and lands in another solid group here from post 6. Would take his absolute best to get a piece
against these.
7
Duel in the Sun
Surged by his rivals after a
perfect trip last week to score the easy victory after #1 made a break down
the lane. No question he fits with
these, and should be close once again.
8
Derby Dylan
Note the barn change here
into Team Alagna. Dylan has been good
here all season, and any smooth journey from out here should put him close
once again.
9
Homestake
Tired late after being used
hard early in the 2nd leg, and doesn’t appear to pack the speed to
go with these just yet. I’ll pass for
now.
Race 8 Selections 5-6-8-2
1
Lightning Reno
Doesn’t appear to pack the
speed to hang with the top ones in here just yet. Pass.
2
Lady Cambest
Solid effort over the off
track last Sunday to finish 3rd, and appears to have landed in a
similar crew here. She can hang with
her best effort.
3
Real Impressive
Tried going down the road
here on Thursday, and tired late when put to the test. She is now 0 for 22 LT, I could use her
underneath only once again.
4
The Hit Lady
Raced evenly against similar
company in her last, but appears to have hooked an even tougher group in
here. Not sure she is ready to go with
the top ones in here.
5
Dragon Tattoo
Lone 2yo in the field has
held his own at this level in Indy and PA, and appears to have hooked a
fairly soft crew for his local debut.
Plenty of options from perfect mid-pack post. Smith opted here over #7.
6
Alluring Art
Looking for 3 in a row now
after a powerful performance in overnight company last time. No question this appears to be a bit tougher
group, and she would need her very best once again. JN opted here over #9.
7
Blue By U
Hasn’t had much luck at this
level, and I don’t see things changing here.
Pass. Smith opted to #5
instead.
8
Her Misconduct
Has proven that she can go
with these here this year, and typically offers a nice late rally if things
set up her way. Should be flying late
once again.
9
Momspacific flight
Finished up a nice 2nd
behind similar company last time, but appears to have her work cut out from
post 9 in this spot. Would have to
find a way to get worked into it. I’ll
pass for now. Nisonger opted to #6
instead.
Race 9 Selections 4-5-2-7
1
Park Lane Crystal
Had a perfect trip last time
in what essentially ended up as a 4 horse field after the breakers, but could
only manage a distant 3rd place finish. Things aren’t going to get any easier
here.
2
Hot Beach Girl
Very impressed by this filly
last time, as she was left first over for a long way after #4 cleared to the
lead and she battled for a long time and hung in well. Just missed holding 2nd at big
odds. Live longshot? I think so.
3
T B Beach Girl
Last year’s champ is still
looking for her first win on the season, and hasn’t been able to fend off the
top ones in the preliminary legs.
Would have to pick things up quite a bit if she’s going to
successfully defend the title.
4
Shawnee Dancer
Changed barns prior to the
last start after a private purchase, and she looked untouchable in peeling off
her 3rd consecutive victory.
Completely wrapped up down the lane, no question she is the one to
beat.
5
Keene Angelic
Has been dominant in a pair
of big wins in the opening legs of KYSS action, but she is yet to hook up
with #4. Certainly hasn’t done
anything wrong, but would have to improve even more to go with the fav.
6
Sandra’son thebeach
Hasn’t had anything to offer
late in the opening legs, and appears to be a notch below the top ones. Pass.
7
Miss Lucy O
Lucy has had a couple of
picture perfect 2nd over trips in the opening legs, and she has
made the most of them by picking up a couple of nice checks. Could be in line for another nice cover
trip here, maybe underneath.
8
Caribbean Girl
No threat last time and
moves outside to post 8 tonight. Not a
good combination.
9
Poker Place
Appeared to have plenty of
pace when she was pinned in 2 starts back in finishing 3rd, and
then made a break far behind the gate last time. Take a long look at her on the track, she
didn’t look great scoring down last time.
10
Doc’s Hope
No question she has the
talent to go with the top ones in here, but not sure what has happened in
recently after being scratched ‘sick’ last time. Slammed with post 10 on top of it. She will need her very best.
Race 10 Selections 2-7-1-5
1
Caviart Key
Last year’s runner-up lands
on the pole here after a couple of runner-up finishes in the opening legs to
the 2 heavy favs in here. Not sure he
is on their level, but should sit close to the battle and end up with a nice
piece.
2
Bolt the Duer
The defending KYSS champ
debuted with a couple of dominant performances in the opening legs, fresh off
becoming the fastest horse ever on a 5/8 mile track with his 47.4 win at The
Meadows in the $500k Adios. This is
going to be a heck of a heavyweight battle with #7, it’s the one we’ve been
waiting for! Get your popcorn
ready.
3
Sgt Matt
Picked up a couple of checks
with distant finishes in the opening rounds, but would have to pick things up
quite a bit. Smith opted to #1
instead.
4
Bugsy Malone
Followed #2 in both legs
thus far, but hasn’t been able to keep up with him late. Would take a LOT
more tonight.
5
Partner
Used hard early last time
from post 10, and never really got clearance down the lane. I think he is better than that, and is
certainly a threat for the minor awards in here. Noble opted here over #9.
6
Yakkity Yak Jack
Appears overmatched against
these. Pass.
7
Thinking Out Loud
Elected to stay at his home
base in Canada
last week after already Q’fying for the final down here the week prior with a
win. The $1.5 million NA Cup Champ has
now earned over $900k, and a win tonight would make him a millionaire. It won’t be easy to take from #2, should be
an absolute slugfest and fun to watch.
8
Jimmy Rip
Hasn’t been able to hang
close in the opening legs, and would take a lot more to make any noise
tonight.
9
Dragon Spike
Tired badly after an
aggressive front end try last time, and was far back the week prior as
well. Asking quite a bit for him to go
with these. Noble opted to #5
instead.
10
Heavenly Beaches
Claimed for only $30k back
at the end of July, this guy has picked up a couple of solid 3rd
place checks in the opening legs. Has
a big shot to collect another one here, but will likely have to do it from
last. Your call.
Race 11 Selections 4-6-3-8
1
Southwind Metallic
Finished up a close 4th
last time after an eventful trip which included a break at the start and a
3-wide move around the far turn. He
has landed in quite the shark tank here though, would need even more.
2
Dewey Luvs Britt
Appears to be a notch below
the top ones in here. Pass. Christensen opted off to #9 instead.
3
Mystical Dew
Undefeated 2yo looks the
part, as he glides over the track with ease and unleashed a 27.4 final
quarter last time to gun down #6 late.
Meets a solid crew, but hasn’t done a thing wrong. Must respect.
4
Banco Solo
One of only 2 Master Glide
colts to make the final, as they run up against a field full of the first crop
of superstar Deweycheatumnhowe. Don’t
discount this guy though. He could not
have looked any better in his opening round wins, and I’m convinced that he
can go with anything in here on his best day.
5
Swiss Alps
Continues to improve with
each start, but may still be asking a bit much for him to go with the top
ones in here in only the 3rd start of his career.
6
Here’s Johnny
Displayed some major league
talent in what was essentially the first start of his career last week,
finishing up a game 2nd in a fast mile behind the fav. Any further improvement puts him squarely
in the mix.
7
Tornado
A couple of even efforts in
the opening legs, but maybe a notch below the top ones still. Pass.
8
Caveat Emptor
Made a break at the top of
the lane last time when they began to apply pressure. No question he has the talent to go with
these, but will need a big rebound after that.
9
Penn
The other son of Master
Glide in the final, who powered away for an impressive score in the 2nd
leg. He takes on a far tougher group
tonight though. Needs even more. Christensen opted here over #2.
10
Deweytrot andhowe
After seeing this guy at the
fairs all season long, it would be really nice to see him pick up a check
here in the major leagues but he wasn’t done any favors with post 10. Not sure he can overcome that.
Race 12 Selections 4-8-7-9-3 10 CENT SUPER
HI FIVE WAGERING
1
Yank My Rope
Finally got back on track
here Thursday with an even 4th place finish, but lands in against
a solid crew here and would have to pick things up even more. I’ll watch another one first.
2
West Coast Arturo
Has had some severe stamina
issues here this season, and hard to see things changing in big field
tonight. Pass.
3
Hoosier GB Diamond
A nice 2nd place
finish when Mark Mac drove her 3 starts back, and I am sure he will be on the
gas early to be sitting close to the lead once again. Needs her absolute very best.
4
Willing Heart
7yo mare went a lifetime
best mile with Noble 2 starts back, and now picks up his services once
again. Anything similar to that effort
puts her in the mix once again. Noble
opted here over #10.
5
Baby Blue Pajamas
She has had some success
here over the years, but appears to be a step or two behind her stablemate
(#8) right now. Lands in a perfect
mid-pack post though, plenty of options for TS. Your call.
6
Shesgotwht everitis
Showed some signs of
improvement with an even finish on Thursday, but is going to have to continue
to improve in order to hang with the top ones in here.
7
Ashley Force
Not sure what has got her
into making breaks recently, but she wasn’t able to overcome that last one
like she did 2 starts back. She packs
enough speed if she decides to mind her manners.
8
JB’s Cutie
Closed from far off the pace
to pick up a nice 2nd last time, and won the first mini-series
final 2 starts back. She will be
flying late once again if she gets worked into it with any kind of smooth
journey.
9
Thank You Mamma
Tired late after an
aggressive attempt last time, but I still think this mare has the ability to
go with these on her best day. Likely
to get another large price from post 9, I’ll toss her on the ticket.
