Red Mile Race Reviews

Thursday, August 29th

Track Handicapper – Gabe Prewitt

Race 1                     Selections                                3-6-4

1

When N Rome

Had a solid Q’fer back on 7-24 before her career debut, but appears to have regressed over the first 4 career tries.  I’ll wait until we see some signs of improvement.  Pass.

2

Miller’s Dawn

Chi-town invader hasn’t shown much speed to this point.  Looks overmatched against these.

3

Stirling Cameo

Unleashed a furious stretch rally to pull off the 11-1 upset in her career debut.  Won’t be anywhere near that price tonight, but any similar effort makes her the one to beat.

4

Breakwater

Tired badly after being used a bit to make the lead in his last local try, and should find the short field much more to his liking.  Bred to be a top level colt, but he still has a lot to prove.

5

Iknow everything

Tired late after aggressive piloting in his 2nd career start.  I honestly thought he would finish up a lot closer, but should continue to improve in only his 3rd career try.

6

Doc’s Smokin

A couple of ‘ok’ efforts to begin his career against tougher company at Scioto, and should really enjoy the class relief tonight in his local debut against short field.  Any similar effort puts him in the mix against these.

Race 2                     Selections                                1-3-7

1

Rocky De Vie

Colt has flashed some big time speed when he minds his manners, including in the one AM Q’fer we saw locally.  Looks like the on the one to beat, but keep a close eye on him behind the gate.

2

Latoka

Doesn’t appear to pack the speed to hang with the top ones in here just yet.  I’ll pass.

3

Royal Dazzler

Q’fed a distant 3rd behind a top filly at Philly, for a barn that has been on a roll with youngsters here thus far.  Any further improvement should put him in the mix.

4

Fort Riley

Appears to be overmatched against these.

5

Morgans Majestic

Made a break on a very sloppy track the only time we saw him locally.  Has been logging a LOT of miles lately for a 2yo, and I wasn’t impressed with either start on a big track in IL.  I’ll pass for now.

6

Bonnyn glide

Filly invades from the WV fair, I’ll watch her go around once locally before hopping on board.

7

Gitti

A nice even effort against far better company last time, and keep in mind that was her first start since removing lasix and off a brief layoff.  Should continue to improve.

8

Platinum T

Lands on the outside tonight for her career debut.  I would expect a conservative steer here and likely an off the pace try late.  Maybe underneath.

Race 3                     Selections                                5-6-4

1

Whale of a Tale

Raced evenly in a couple of starts on the OH fair circuit to begin his career.  Lands on the pole tonight in what appears to be a fairly wide open crew.  Would still have pick things up quite a bit to contend for top honors.

2

Geared for Money

No luck in 2 local starts thus far, I’ll wait until we see some signs of improvement.

3

Ponda Watts

Finished far back in the local Q’fer, and hard to endorse her here in her pari-mutuel debut after seeing that.  I’ll watch one first.

4

Lovely Beau

Yet to hit the board in 9 tries in OH, but lands in what appears to be an even easier spot tonight.  Likely a short price looming though, not sure I’m willing to accept that.

5

Veloce

A couple of fair wins on the season in OH, and I’m willing to take a shot on him here in what appears to be a wide open crew.  Should offer a little value.  Nisonger opted here over #1.

6

Blueridge Hera

Finally did race a bit better in an even 5th place finish here on Sunday, and lands in an even easier crew tonight.  Any further improvement puts her in the mix.

Race 4                     Selections                                3-1-5-2                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Deacons Valley

Used extremely hard to make the lead here last week, and expectedly packed it in a bit late.  Lands on the pole tonight, should be able to dictate his own terms.  I’ll give him another try.

2

Berto Adalina

Keeps getting off at big odds every week, and keeps on putting in solid efforts to land on the ticket.  I could see her doing it once again here in the first Superfecta on the program.

3

Scully Sas

Couldn’t have possibly looked any better here in her career debut, fighting off a much more experienced 3yo down the lane for the win.  Looks like the hobbles have made all the difference.  Lots to like, bright future.

4

Andetorn Hall

Was a touch better here on Sunday, but still appears to be a notch or two below the favs in here.  Pass.

5

Mistress withmuscle

I must admit that she looked fairly impressive here in the AM, and connections have been known to pop in locally with some good youngsters over the years.  How good is she?  We will know soon enough.

6

Magic Glide

Picked up a little cash against mid-level stakes company in PA to begin his career, but nothing really impresses me about those efforts.  Would have to pick things up quite a bit.

7

Graceful Kelly

Trotted evenly in the AM at Philly, and likely will be coming from far back in her career debut.  I’ll watch this one closely.

8

Supreme Day

Blazed through a quick opening half mile split here on Sunday, only to tire late and finish a distant 4th.  Not sure things are going to get any easier for her here.  I’ll pass.

Race 5                     Selections                                4-5-2

1

Blueridge Casino

Has been decent in OH recently, but hooks a fairly tough crew tonight for this level locally.  I like casinos as much as anyone, but I’ll pass on this one.

2

Pat’s Shooter

Note the barn change tonight, as Pat will be shooting for new connections.  Held his own against solid company at Hoosier, his best effort puts him in the mix.

3

J T’s First

Hasn’t had much kick to offer late, and lands in against solid foes tonight.  Pass.

4

Argon Fire

Drops from stakes company, into a much more manageable spot tonight against overnight rivals.  His best effort should be enough against this crew.

5

Twice as Hard

Absolutely romped against maidens last time as the fav, now steps up to take on a bit better crew in NW2.  Hasn’t done anything wrong, but typically don’t like taking 2yo’s against older this early.

6

Sharp Dressed Guy

Finished up behind a talented youngster in his last couple of tries, and is still yet to miss the board in 6 LT tries.  Will need his absolute very best to keep that streak in tact tonight.

Race 6                     Selections                                2-9-3                       Pick 4 Starts Here                  See Ticket at the End

1

Take a Shot Scott

Barn had a big night on Sunday, cashing in with 4 winners.  Scott hasn’t been on top of his game recently, but lands in an absolutely WIDE open field.  Will need his very best.  Your call.

2

Cams Sahbra

I keep waiting for this mare to pop in with a big effort, and I think tonight may be the night.  She takes a drop in class, draws inside, and barn had a winner here on Sunday.  All systems go?  I think so.

3

Jen Finn

Absolutely gave the heavy fav all he wanted before giving way in deep stretch the only time we saw her locally 3 starts back at this level.  Anything similar to that effort puts her in the mix once again.

4

Gunner Mckenna

Must admit I haven’t been his biggest fan, but he keeps improving with each and every start.  Saved ground throughout en route to a 3rd place finish last time.  Needs his very best, but he fits.

5

Littleworth Shake

Lightly raced 5yo makes his first start back in over 3 months.  I’ll pass.

6

Stone Cold Fever

Maybe a touch better here last time, but still has a long way to go to contend for any of the major awards.

7

Misconception

No luck against similar company recently, would take a complete turnaround.

8

Noah C

What has happened to Noah?  Typically has competed at higher levels than he finds himself in tonight, but hasn’t been on top of his game recently.  Not sure I’m ready to hop on board just yet.

9

Preferred Stock

Substantial drop in class tonight for this guy, and picks up the services of Bolon as well.  Post 9 should ensure we get plenty of value.  Live longshot?  I’m willing to invest.

10

Imadragon

Drops from the claiming ranks into conditioned company tonight, but lands on the far outside of wide open crew.  I’m not sure if I like how things set up for him in here.

Race 7                     Selections                                5-7-6-3                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Marian’s Man

13yo may be getting a little long in the tooth, has been fairly flat against similar company in both local starts thus far.  Maybe a bit softer spot tonight, but still going to have to pick things up a bit.

2

Limbo Glide

Yet to hit the board in 3 starts this season, but was decent here 3 starts back in his ’13 debut.  Anything similar to that effort should put him into contention for the minor awards.

3

OGs Divine Lady

Tired badly after blasting out here on Sunday, and I expect we will see her revert back to off the pace tactics here.  A bit inconsistent, but her best effort puts her in play.

4

Manaloha

No luck recently against similar company, would have to bring more to the table to hang with these.

5

Alfredo Dream

If Alfredo did have a dream, it may be to land in a field like this…   Has been facing FAR better company recently.  Nice even effort last time.  This looks like the spot to get it done.

6

Cowling Park

Packs plenty of early speed, and I would expect Pluta to be out there winging with him early.  Can he hold on for a piece of that Superfecta ticket at a big number?  Maybe.

7

Gliding Boheme

Mare may fly a bit under the radar here coming in from the WV fairs, but her best effort would no doubt put her in the mix against these.  Only one entered for the claiming tag in the group.  I’ll toss her on the ticket.

8

Victoria Valley

Right when I thought she may be turning the corner, she has completely packed it in now in the last couple of tries.  Retains longshot status here.

Race 8                     Selections                                10-9-6-2                                  50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Do Ya Wanna Rumba

Has been ‘ok’ in the conditioned ranks at Northfield recently, including a LT best performance 3 starts back.  Should offer big value from the pole tonight.  Your call.

2

Roxie Lee

Roughed up quite a bit last time as the fav, where she managed to hang on for a 4th place finish.  Lands inside many of her rivals here, price should be a bit better as well.

3

Lady Cambest

Picked off some tired rivals down the lane last time to finish a distant 3rd behind the fav.  No question an improved effort, and it looks like she does her best work off the pace.

4

Thank You Mamma

No luck against similar company recently, hard for me to endorse her here against many of the same rivals.

5

JB’s Cutie

Parlayed a picture perfect trip and steer into a 2nd place finish in her local debut, but would still need to pick things up a bit to hang with the top ones here in claiming company in my opinion.

6

Georgian Jiffyjane

Absolutely pounced on her rivals in short field last time, but lands in against a better crew tonight back in for a claiming tag.  Possibly in career best form right now.  Maybe.

7

Feds Express

Tried out the top level, and didn’t race all that poorly behind some solid foes.  Should enjoy the class relief tonight, where her best effort puts her in the mix.

8

Pureform Misskiss

No luck at this level the 2 times we have seen her locally, and now lands out in post 8 in a contentious crew.  I’ll wait for a better spot.

9

Jo Jo’s Circus

Ultra consistent mare typically lays it all on the line each and every week, and will likely be flying down the lane once again.  If they heat it up early, she will be gunning late.  Must respect.

10

Cigarchompin Mona

Flat in both of her local tries, but barn has been firing on all cylinders in the last week or so.  Hit the board in 16 of 26 this season, price will be right from way out here.  I’m willing to try her ONE more time.

Race 9                     Selections                                1-4-10-8                  50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Copper Cat

I was impressed with that effort last time, as this guy really dug in down the late to try and fight off his rival after being used hard early.  Lands on the pole here, looks like the one to beat.  Bolon opted here over #9.

2

Bullet Tooth Tony

Decent local Q’fer, but we haven’t seen Tony in over 50 days now.  I’ll watch one first.

3

Ohnoyou didn’t

No luck recently against similar company, and I can’t see her contending for any of the major awards tonight.  Pass.

4

Franchise Attack

Solid effort against a tough crew here 2 starts back, in a race where the 2nd place finisher in that mile came out to win his next start.  Certainly fits with these.  Must respect.  Nisonger opted here over #10.

5

My Boy Luke

Got caught up in a big mile at Duqouin last time, and it’s hard to gage his IL fair starts prior.  I’ll watch him tour the oval here locally once first.

6

It’s Fun

Much improved effort last time to finish up 3rd against a solid crew in behind #1.  Appears to be heading the right direction.

7

Do It Best

Always been a big fan of this guy, but he still appears to be a notch or two below the favs in here right now.  I’ll wait for a better spot.

8

Change Agent

Rebounded with a nice first over effort here on Sunday, before tiring a bit in deep stretch to finish 2nd.  Takes a bit of a step up here, looks to be a contender for the minor awards.

9

Gran Hiratzka

No luck at Scioto recently prior to the win at the fair last time, lands on the outside of solid field here.  Not tonight.  Bolon opted to #1 instead.

10

Silent Fool

A decent 3rd place finish after being shuffled back the only time we saw him race locally this season, and will likely provide some value from the outside post here.  I’ll toss him on the ticket.  Nisonger opted to #4 instead.

Race 10                   Selections                                3-6-5-4-7                 10 Cent Super Hi Five Wagering

1

Luminous Lombo

Made a break after getting driven very aggressively in his only local try thus far, and should get away very close after landing on the pole in here.  Maybe a shot at the minor awards.

2

Mor Than Enuff Russ

Has been racing evenly against similar company recently, and any type of similar effort should put him in play for the minor awards once again.

3

Laredos Goose

How big of a mile did this guy go last time?  Sat on the outside throughout, only to be passed by #5 at the head of the lane, only to fight back up the inside en route to the victory at better than 40-1!!  Wow!

4

Our Little Pilgrim

Looked a little flat in that last effort in a 4th place finish behind #’s 3, 5, & 6.  Certainly fits with these, but will need more to find a bit more in the tank.

5

Great Mystery

Absolutely loved this guy last time, and he almost got the job done before getting a little leg weary in deep stretch to finish 2nd.  Still an improved effort, anything similar puts him in play once again.

6

Camwiser

Left aggressively from post 7 last time, yet still had some pop on the end of it after moving 3-wide at the head of the lane.  Should continue to improve in his 2nd local start.  Maybe.

7

Tricky Grin

Appears to be a notch or two below the top ones in here, but he has been holding his own against many of these same rivals with some underneath finishes recently.  I could see something similar here.

8

Hillcrest Domingo

Doesn’t appear to be on top of his game recently.  I’ll watch on first.

9

Jeremy Sharky

Packed it in early last time in his 1st start back off an almost 3 month break.  Should improve a bit tonight in his 2nd start off the shelf, but it won’t be easy from way out here.  Needs his very best.
