Red Mile Race Reviews

Thursday, September 19th

Track Handicapper – Gabe Prewitt

Race 1                     Selections                                4-8-5

1

Amgan

Wasn’t really thrilled with how she looked on the track last week, and didn’t think she performed as well as she could have.  Absolutely WIDE open here, but I’ll look elsewhere.

2

Magic Glide

Lost all chance with the break at the start here on Sunday, but he can go with these when he is on top of his game.  Needs a big rebound.

3

Caribbean Dream

Stamina continues to be a major concern.  Pass for now.

4

Bambino Supreme

A nice even Q’fer at Philly, and don’t be too hard on her for losing a little ground late as they trotted the back half in 56.3.  Lands in a fairly comfortable spot for her career debut.  Lachance opted here over #6.

5

Groton Party

Lands in a much easier spot than he faced locally last time, and his best effort would put him squarely in the mix against these.  Your call.

6

Over the Line

Still hasn’t proven he packs enough speed to hang with the top ones in here just yet.  I’ll watch for improvement.  Lachance opted to #4 instead.

7

Nantab

Drops out of Kindergarten company to take a shot against overnight rivals.  Should find this level much more to her liking.  Any further improvement should put her close.

8

Mystic Illusion

First time starter appears to be primed for her career debut after a couple of solid AM efforts.  Not sure what caused the time off in between, but the local Q’fer was good.

Race 2                     Selections                                1-5-4

1

Clementine Dream

Dominated here against overnight company a couple of weeks back, and any similar effort should be enough to get the job done once again.  Maybe a bit tougher group than she faced last time, but still looks to be the best.

2

Mountain Dewey

Local Q’fer wasn’t anything overly impressive, and I’m not ready to hop on board just yet.  I’ll wait until we see some improvement.

3

Sheer Joy Hanover

First time starter took a TON of play through the windows last time, but could only manage to be an even 4th after getting caught up in a big mile.  Should continue to improve in 2nd try tonight.  Maybe.  ML opted to #1.

4

Keystone Sadie

Tough trip after getting parked the entire mile in her local debut, having to settle for 3rd as the heavy fav.  Any smoother journey should put her in the mix once again.

5

Turbo Donato

AM Q’fers have been about what you would expect to this point, and keep in mind he was facing a Hambo Elim winner in the last one where he finished 3rd.  Is he ready for these tonight in first LT start?  ML opted to #1.

6

Come and Play

Had a perfect trip behind #1 two starts back and parlayed that into a 2nd place finish.  Appears to have landed in a more competitive field here, would have to pick things up even more.  Fladen opted to #7 instead.

7

Dawning Dream

We haven’t seen her put in a clean mile now in over a month, and I’ll watch one first.  Fladen opted here over #6.

8

Mistresswith Muscle

I’ve been a big fan of this filly thus far, but she lands on the outside tonight against some tough rivals.  Likely a fairly conservative steer coming, might be a bit tough for her at this point.  Lachance opted to #1 instead.

Race 3                     Selections                                2-3-5

1

Doc’s Smokin

Lost all chance with the break last time, and lands back in what appears to be a tough spot tonight.  Not sure he is ready for these just yet.

2

JK Endof anera

PA Q’fers have been impressive, and he appears to be primed up and ready for his career debut tonight for top connections.  One of several that appears to have a major shot.

3

She’s Dangerous

Has been dominant in both local Q’fers, including a 13 length romp here last week.  Should be ready to fire on all cylinders after 4 AM works, barn has been on a roll here with youngsters recently.  ML chose over #’s 6 & 7.

4

Well Maid

Doesn’t appear to pack the speed to hang with these just yet.  Pass.

5

Velocity Headlight

Impressive debut here last week, sprinting home in 27 seconds to pick off some of his rivals down the lane en route to a 2nd place finish.  Should continue to improve.  Must respect.

6

Shark Leap Hanover

Showed some promise in the NJSS earlier this summer, but has been MIA for a couple of months since.  I’ll watch him go around once locally before hopping on board.  Lachance opted to #3 instead.

7

Expose

Had some success on the NYSS circuit this season prior to the break last time out at Yonkers.  Followed up with a nice AM work at Freehold, her very best effort would make her a major threat.  Lachance opted to #3 instead.

8

White Rocks

First time starter doesn’t appear ready to hang with these just yet.  I’ll pass for now.

Race 4                     Selections                                7-4-5-6                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Scacco Matto

Moves from the far outside to the pole here in short field, but would still have to improve quite a bit to hang with the top ones in here.  I’ll pass for now.

2

Genius at Work

($80k HB yearling) Ended up finishing an even 5th here last week after getting away in the back of the pack, and should be sitting much closer here after landing on the inside in smaller field.  Needs to pick things up a bit still.

3

O Narutac Perfetto

($40k HB yearling) Hard to jump on board here after he has made breaks in the last couple of starts, including right here last week.  I’ll wait until we see some improvement.

4

Outburst

($33k Lex yearling) Nice local debut last time to finish up a close 3rd, but I will mention that he did benefit from several breakers in the field.  Still looks like anything similar should make him the one to beat here.

5

Lightning Force

($80k Lex yearling) Lost all chance with an early break last week, but I still think there might be some talent here from his 2 starts prior.  I’m willing to toss him on the ticket once again.  Lachance opted to #7 instead.

6

Doncango

A nice even 4th place finish here last week in his local debut, but I still think he is going to have to find a bit more in the tank to contend for any of the major awards.  I’ll try him underneath only.  Lachance opted to #7 instead.

7

Master Kemp

($50k Lex yearling) Trust me when I tell you that this guy was locked and loaded down the lane last time, and unleashed a furious rally up the inside late to be 3rd.  Must respect.  Lachance opted here over #’s 2, 5, & 6.

Race 5                     Selections                                4-6-5-7                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Dave Briggs

($27k Lex yearling) Actually appeared to switch to a pace around the far turn before eventually making a break in stride here last week.  Not sure I’m ready to hop back on board just yet after seeing that.

2

King City

($52k Lex yearling) Lost all chance with the early break last time, and would take a complete turnaround to contend for any of the major awards against these.  Pass.

3

Dribbling

($35k Lex yearling) Doesn’t appear to pack the speed to hang with the top ones in here just yet.  Pass.

4

Speak the Truth

($65k HB yearling) I must admit that I was extremely impressed with his local debut last time, coming up only a neck short of pulling off the 18-1 upset!  Should continue to improve in his 3rd LT start tonight.

5

Great Society

($50k Lex yearling) Connections obviously think this guy has some talent, trying him out against open stakes company in the $280k Peter Haughton at the Meds.  Q’fer was solid, needs his very best here.

6

Shift into Glide

($250k HB yearling – highest YG sold at auction in ’12) Six figure yearling hasn’t been on top of his game the last couple of starts, but he does show finishing a close 3rd in behind Father Patrick 3 starts back.  Might be worth a look here at what should be a square price.

7

Who Wants Soup

($13k HB yearling) An even 4th place finish here last week after getting away far back.  Should be sitting much closer here in small field, but still would need his very best.

Race 6                     Selections                                3-8-1-4                    Pick 4 Wagering                     See Ticket at the End

1

Rockenon Broadway

($22k Lex yearling) Really put it all together here last week to pull off the 26-1 upset!  That was the first time we saw her stay flat, should continue to improve here.  Must respect.

2

Great Gwen

($27k HB yearling) Used hard here last week to make and hold the top, yet still held on well to finish up a decent 3rd.  Lands in what may be an even tougher crew here.  Will need her absolute very best.

3

Chocolate Crisp

Had some breaking issues early on in her career, but has really turned things around recently, winning 4 in a row.  Likely blasting out early, should get a nice up close trip.  Major player.

4

Graceful Kelly

($145k HB yearling – highest MY sold at auction in ’12) I am not ready to give up on this filly just yet, she got locked up in a duel last time with #2 and lost all chance.  Any smooth journey could put her in the mix.

5

Dynamite Honey

($80k HB yearling – highest EM filly sold at auction in ’12) Lost all chance with an early break last week, and hasn’t proven she packs the type of speed needed just yet.  I’ll pass for now.

6

South Carolina

($50k Lex yearling) Has been trotting evenly against mid-level stakes company in PA to begin her career, but maybe still a notch or two below the top ones here in what turned out to be a tough div.

7

Sincerely Yours

Trotted evenly to finish up 4th here in her local debut in what was an improved effort.  Keep in mind there were several breakers in there though.  Things aren’t going to get any easier.

8

Goddess

($110k HB yearling) Not sure what induced the break here last time behind the gate, but she had been a model of consistency prior.  No question the talent is here, just needs to mind her manners.  Lachance opted to #4 instead.

Race 7                     Selections                                1-4-2-3                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Trixton

($360k Lex yearling – highest MH sold at auction in ‘12) High dollar yearling never really looked comfortable here last week before eventually making a break around the far turn.  Had been impressive prior, I suppose I’m willing to give him one more chance.

2

Rocky De Vie

($30k Lex yearling) Regressed back into his bad habits last time, but I still believe there is some talent here when he decides to mind his manners.  Won’t be easy against this crew though.

3

Myolinist

($50k Lex yearling) Parlayed a nice up close trip into a distant 2nd place finish here last time behind the heavy fav.  No question an improved effort, anything similar puts him in the mix once again.  Lachance opted to #4.

4

Revrac Harbour

Hadn’t really shown much prior to arriving in town for Team Alagna, but I was impressed with the AM romp here last week.  Any further improvement should put him in play against these.  ML opted here over #’s 3,5,6,7.

5

Yankee Fashion

($130k HB yearling) Made an aggressive move to the top here last week, only to break once again just past the half.  Hard to endorse him at this point after 3 consecutive breaks.  Lachance opted to #4 instead.

6

Kapow Hanover

($90k HB yearling – highest EM sold at auction in ’12) I must mention he did get a bit rough gaited down the lane here last time, but BM was able to hold him together for a nice win.  Likely will need even more against these.  Lachance opted to #4 instead.

7

Opulent Yankee

($4k HB yearling) Forwardly placed off the wings last time, only to tire a bit down the lane to finish 4th in what was essentially a 4 horse breakaway.  Needs more to contend for the major awards.  Lachance opted to #4.

Race 8                     Selections                                8-5-7-1                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Paris Metro

($75k HB yearling) Ended up finishing up a solid 2nd here last week, but I’m not convinced that her rivals were all that tough in that spot.  Lands on the pole once again, needs her very best.

2

Credit to Elgin

($35k Lex yearling) Appears overmatched at this point.  Pass.  Bolon opted to #6 instead.

3

Ravine

($32k Lex yearling) Tired down the lane last time after getting caught up in a big mile against solid company.  Maybe a bit softer spot tonight, still would have to pick things up a bit.  Lachance opted here over #8.

4

Fastlane Anover

($35k HB yearling) Held her own against mid-level stakes company in PA, but stepping up to take on some nice fillies in this crew.  Not quite sure she is ready for these just yet.

5

Moonlight in Miami

($100k HB yearling) Impressive local Q’fer behind a colt who was in Race 7, you may want to check and see how he did.  Nonetheless, anything similar should put her squarely in the mix against these.

6

Backorder

Never really got involved last week after getting away in the back, but she was much better in the start prior when she left a bit.  Not quite sure what to expect here.  Your call.  Bolon opted here over #2.

7

Scully Sas

Is off to a promising start after her first 3 LT tries here locally, and appears to have landed in a fairly manageable spot here.  Needs her very best, but she fits with these.  Maybe.

8

You and I

($30k HB yearling) Not sure what caused her to make a break while on the lead last week, but she has proven to have some ability when she minds her manners.  Price should be right, I’m willing to take a flier.

9

Chipperoo

($52k Lex yearling) Decent here in her first local try, but now lands on the far outside and will likely be coming from far back again.  It won’t be easy.

Race 9                     Selections                                8-4-1-7                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Red Hot Spicy

Flashed some improvement in her local debut last time, just missing pulling off the 66-1 upset.  Should be sitting very close once again after landing on the pole.  Maybe.

2

Bikini So Teeny

($12k Lex yearling) Trotted home well to finish up a solid 2nd behind #8, and any similar effort should put her in play for the minor awards once again.

3

Anonyme Hanover

($47k HB yearling) Not trying to take anything away from her win here last time, but keep in mind she was set up perfectly after a couple of fillies battled for the lead throughout.  Likely to be overbet a bit after that.

4

Hot Springs

($120k HB yearling) Had some sneaky late trot to offer in deep stretch here last time, and might be a bit better positioned tonight after landing in perfect mid-pack post.  I’ll try her underneath the fav.

5

Platinum T

($97k Lex yearling) Doesn’t appear to have the speed to hang with these just yet.  Pass.

6

Alwaysin blackpedia

($10k HB yearling) Flashed a bit of improvement last time after adding the hobbles, but still has a long way to go to hang with the top ones in here.  Not tonight.

7

Lady Luck Lindy

($30k Lex yearling) Liked her quite a bit last time, and she made a break around the first turn.  Still think there is some talent here, I’m willing to toss her on the ticket at what should be a nice price.

8

Cee Bee Yes

($45k HB yearling) Absolutely crushed her rivals last time under complete wraps, and if she is that good again tonight they won’t beat her.  No question she will be a heavy fav, and deservedly so.

Race 10                   Selections                                8-6-5-9-7                 10 Cent Super Hi Five Wagering

1

Spit for Spat

($10k HB yearling) Lost all chance after being parked throughout last time, but should be in line for a smoother journey tonight from the pole.  Still would need to pick things up a bit.

2

Thisgirlis onfire

($24k HB yearling) Has been ‘ok’ thus far in mid-level stakes on the east coast, but appears to be a notch or two below the top fillies in here at this point.

3

Love Talk

($30k HB yearling) Hard to endorse her off consecutive breaks, I’ll wait until we see some improvement.

4

Demoiselle Hanover

($55k HB yearling) No threat at any point last time, hard to see anything change here.  Pass.

5

Vanity Matters

($47k HB yearling) Ended up with a perfect trip behind the eventual winner last time, but she couldn’t hang in with her down the lane.  Still not a bad effort, anything similar puts her in play once again.

6

Fashion Huntress

A rarity to see lasix added for a 2yo, but it really seemed to pick this filly up last time in a game 2nd place finish behind #8 even after the tough trip.  Should continue to improve.  Must respect.

7

Keepsake Hanover

($70k HB yearling) Finished a distant 3rd behind #’s 8 & 6 last time, and would have to pick things up quite a bit still to contend for the major awards.  I could consider her underneath only.  ML opted here over #’s 1,2,3 & 6.

8

Yoga

($31k HB yearling) Wow!  What a dazzling performance here last week, as she cruised home to an easy romp over a solid crew.  We could be looking at the real deal here!  I’m back on board.

9

Outsourced Hanover

($27k Lex yearling) Nearly dug in to fend off her rivals down the lane here last week, only to tire in the final strides in a 3rd place finish.  Likely blasting out early, should sit close.  Your call.
